New World Record Set by Valery Rozov

Global award-winning broker FXTM presented its own take on FX sport sponsorships with the FXTMbasejump Project in early July. The broker partnered up with legendary Red Bull sportsman, Valery Rozov, who is renowned for many achievements in BASE jumping and sky diving, most notably his record-breaking jump from the Everest Massif in 2013 at 7220 metres. The FXTMbasejump Project itself saw Valery go through a series of strict training routines and jumps in preparation for the big finale which was revealed to the world this month.

Valery Rozov successfully capped off the FXTMbasejump project with an impressive jump from Cho Oyu in China at 7700 metres, marking this as a new world record for a BASE jump performed from the highest altitude above sea level. The expedition to the exit spot took 21 days until finally, on the 5th of October, the Russian athlete jumped from the Southwest part of the mountain, flying for approximately three minutes before landing safely on a glacier.

Commenting on the world record jump, the CEO of FXTM Olga Rybalkina said: “The FXTMbasejump project gave us the opportunity to inspire traders and investors from around the world. Valery’s dedication and passion for achieving things that no one has done before falls perfectly in line with
FXTM’s core values. This latest achievement is not only a milestone for the sport but also for the forex industry, as it proves that having the right support, the essential training and preparation, and an extensive awareness of the risks you are exposed to is all the potential you need to achieve your goals”.

The FXTMbasejump Project was split into four campaigns, each highlighting a different aspect on how the journey of a forex trader relates to that of a BASE jumper, and reflected through Valery’s training stops in Chamonix in France, Huascaran in Peru and the Dolomites in Italy before his big jump in China.

Valery Rozov made the following statement regarding his new world record and partnership with FXTM: “Jumping from Cho Oyu has been one of my life-long ambitions and being able to achieve this goal as part of the #FXTMbasejump project is a fantastic feeling. The mountain itself is extremely impressive and challenging, but nevertheless having the opportunity to climb it and to BASE jump from there was a great experience.”

Traders and investors who have been following the project will have the chance to meet Valery Rozov in person and get details on his journey to Cho Oyu in future FXTM events which will take place in different regions around the world.
