Bytom is a virtual currency and blockchain delivering a link between the physical (atomic) and virtual (digital) world, allowing users to register and exchange assets across the Bytom network.

In the world of Bytom (“Byteworld”), atomic assets include but are not limited to warrants, securities, dividends, bonds, intelligence information, and forecasting information. Atomic assets can be registered, exchanged, gambled and engaged in more complicated and contract based interoperations via Bytom.

The Bytom protocol connects the atomic world and the byteworld to promote the interaction and circulation of assets between the two worlds.

Bytom adopts 3-layer architecture:

Asset interaction layer: Friendly to mobile and other terminals and convenient for developers to develop asset management applications.

Contract layer: Uses genesis contract and control contracts for asset issuance and management

Data transaction and transmission layer: Adopts DLT technology to achieve asset issuance, spending, transfer, and other operations. Compatible with the UTXO model and the transaction data structure of Bitcoin achieves high-speed concurrence and anonymous control.

Each asset is identified by an asset ID that distinguishes different asset types, allowing the creation of asset categories to associate them with the Asset Issuance Program and the Asset Management Program.

There are two types of assets running on the Bytom network: Bytom Token (“BTM”) and Assets (“Byteassets”).

Bytom token uses include:

  • Distributed to miners and nodes as a reward for the verification of transactions.
  • Payment of transaction fees for assets trading.
  • Used for the payment of dividends from income assets.
  • Used to make deposits for asset issuance.

There are three types of Byteassets:

Income Assets: Include filmmaking; home-stay property; fixed assets invested by local government, non-performing assets, crowdfunding projects, etc.

Equity Assets: Include equity of non-listed companies and private companies, shares of non-public internet investment etc. The transfer of equity assets requires qualified investor verification.

Securitized Assets: Include debts, automobile loans and other asset-backed securities that can generate predictable cash flows and whose credit can be enhanced through structured design.

Bytom was founded in January 2017 by Chang Jia and co-founder Duan Xinxing, with a total supply of 2.1bn Bytom tokens (“BTM”). 30% of the supply was issued to ICO participants, with 33% of the total supply put aside for mining rewards, the remaining 37% held in reserve for business development, of which some were distributed to private investors.

Bytom’s consensus mechanism uses proof-of-work algorithms that support mining with AI ASICs chips.

Some distinct differences and characteristics of the Bytom Platform include:

  • Proof-of-work consensus algorithm supports ASICs mining.
  • Links the atomic world to the digital world.
  • There are a finite number of BTM tokens.
