Analysis and Recommendation:

The USD/JPY added 20 points in the morning session as the greenback continued to rally. The yen fell to 123.38 as the pair is trading above its average range. Traders have been moving to the greenback as a safe haven investment, while the yen gave up gains from Monday after the country returned to recession.

The U.S. dollar increased against other major currencies on Monday as market expectation for an interest rate-hike by year-end continued to support the greenback.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, was up 0.44 percent at 99.67l. The U.S. dollar had been firmly bolstered since a robust nonfarm payroll report released earlier this month spurred investors’ expectation for the Federal Reserve to raise interest rates in its next policy meeting in December.

On the economic front, the November 2015 Empire State Manufacturing Survey indicates that business activity declined for a fourth consecutive month for New York manufacturers. The headline general business conditions index was little changed at minus 10.7.
