Iceland Unemployment Rate

Iceland’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate eased to 3.3% in April 2025 from 3.7% in the previous month. This marked the lowest reading since November 2024, as the number of unemployed persons decreased by 1,000 month-on-month to 7,700. Of these, 4,400 were unemployed men and 3,300 were women. The youth unemployment rate, which measures job seekers between 16-24 years old, fell to 7.2% from 12.5% in March. Meanwhile, total employment decreased by 2,700 from a month earlier to 224,500 in April 2025 from an upwardly revised 227,200 in the previous month. The labor force participation rate stood at 81.3% in April, unchanged from the revised figure for the previous month.
