For now, the platform only supports NFTs minted on the Ethereum blockchain and for the same reason, the verified profiles will be indicated with ETH's logo.

After Twitter and Reddit, OnlyFans Enables NFT Profile Pictures

Seems like the NFT hype will not be coming down anytime soon as, beyond traders, the brouhaha is continuing to draw in mainstream media platforms, influencers, and users.

This was further propagated by Twitter when it introduced a similar feature about a month ago.

OnlyFans Support Only Ethereum NFTs

In a report by Reuters OnlyFans Chief Executive Officer Ami Gan confirmed that the platform globally famous for its services pertaining to adult content has launched the ‘verified NFT profile pictures’ feature on the platform.

The move was first initiated by Twitter last month when it debuted this feature on the social media platform for $3. Contrary to expectations, the response that Twitter received was severely critical of the feature since all it did was give the profiles a decorative upgrade since the NFT images were still downloadable by anyone.

Influencers such as Elon Musk even went on to call this move a waste of engineering resources on Twitter’s end.

Regardless Twitter has been continuing its pursuit of making itself more crypto-friendly by establishing its “Twitter Crypto” team to Explore NFTs, web3, and Metaverse.

A week later, Reddit too began experimenting with this feature by allowing users to turn their NFTs into their avatars.

On why OnlyFans is also exploring this feature, its CEO stated:

“Our mission is to empower creators to own their full potential. This feature is the first step in exploring the role that NFTs can play on our platform.”

As mentioned above at the moment, only Ethereum minted NFTs are supported for this purpose and an Ethereum icon will also be displayed next to the NFT profile pictures as a symbol of authenticity.

Sports, Music, and NFTs

Not only are social media platforms a huge part of the NFT industry, but major sports clubs and music companies are also beginning to use these digital tokens as a means of marketing.

Just a week ago, Bundesliga club TSG Hoffenheim announced their NFT partnership with Dogecoin-inspired blockchain Baby Doge Coin with the latter receiving LED advertising around the pitch at all home games.

In fact, recently Binance signed an MoU with South Korean entertainment corporation YG Entertainment to produce K-Pop-inspired NFTs and Games.

This is evidence enough to prove that NFTs are slowly turning into one of the most effective ways of marketing thanks to their hype which has led to over $1.59 billion in NFT sales just within the 11 days of this month.
