What Trading Styles Does Alpha Capital Support?

Prop firms often advertise flexible trading styles, but the fine print typically reveals hidden restrictions. In my opinion, Alpha Capital supports nearly all legitimate trading styles, with only minor restrictions on scalping. Overall, the trading conditions are quite favorable.

News trading is allowed during evaluation. In the funded phase, a 4-minute window applies to Alpha Pro 8% and 10%, and a 10-minute window to Alpha Pro 6%, One, and Three. For the (2-Step) Swing plan, news trading is permitted, but trades opened within 2 minutes before or after a release must stay active for at least 2 minutes.

Alpha Capital allows swing trading, enabling positions to be held overnight and over weekends. However, the swap fees applied to overnight positions and the triple-swap charge applied on Wednesday for weekend holdings may pose a drawback. Traders must manage these costs carefully, along with the risks associated with volatility, liquidity, and spread fluctuations.

Alpha Capital permits scalping; however, the average trade duration must exceed two minutes. In my opinion, this could be a minor limitation for scalpers using 1-minute timeframes, as trades often close very rapidly.

Alpha Capital is suitable for day traders, offering competitive spreads, fast execution, leverage up to 1:100, and access to more than 40 instruments.

Alpha Capital Group allows automated trading; however, traders must obtain prior approval for their Expert Advisors (EAs) by submitting the EX5, MQ5, and set files for review. Once approved by Alpha Capital, the EA can be used on the account. In my opinion, this requirement may be restrictive, as some traders prefer not to disclose their code to a third party. As long as the strategy adheres to the rules, prior code submission should not be necessary. Currently, EA functionality is supported only on the MT5 platform and is not available on cTrader, TradeLocker, or DXTrade.

Traders may use their own external accounts as the Master account for copy trading. Proof of ownership is required, including the Account Number, Investor Password, and Server details. Once verified, copy trading will be approved.

Copy trading is not supported on cTrader, DXtrade, or TradeLocker accounts at this time.

Alpha Capital offers access to around 40 tradable instruments, including forex, metals, indices, and commodities, allowing traders to diversify their strategies across multiple markets. I think the absence of crypto assets is a slight drawback.

How Did We Rate the Firm's Trust?
Trust is a cornerstone when selecting a proprietary trading firm. To help you make a confident decision, we analyzed each firm's background and transparency practices. We assessed the clarity of trading rules, including profit targets, drawdown limits, and the absence of unreasonable trading restrictions and forced stop-loss requirements. We also examined payout transparency, along with the firm's overall openness through its operational history, payout consistency, trader testimonials, and performance reporting.
Chart

In my opinion, Alpha Capital has built a strong reputation for transparency and reliability, with over $48 million distributed across more than 21K verified payouts through Payout Junction. The firm holds a solid 4.2 Trustpilot rating, with 85% of reviews being five-star. In my own testing, Alpha Capital delivered consistent and timely payouts, transparent rules, and responsive support. Both the AI chatbot and live chat provided accurate, prompt assistance, aligning with Trustpilot feedback praising reliable payouts, fair policies, and 24/5 customer service. The platform is user-friendly, with a smooth funding process.

Company Stability

Alpha Capital is a proprietary trading firm established in 2016, led by CEO Andrew Blaylock and George Kohler. The company is registered in England and Wales as Alpha Capital Group Limited under company number 13719951 and is based in London. It has over 200 employees, which adds to its stability and operational strength.

Trustpilot Rating

Alpha Capital holds an impressive 4.6 Trustpilot rating based on over 14K reviews, with approximately 85% of them being five-star.(Check date 30 Oct 2025).

Prop Firm Match Rating

Prop Firm Match rating: A decent 4.3/5 (748 reviews, 66% five-star). They have a strict screening process; therefore, inclusion requires meeting the platform’s stringent transparency and operational standards.

Transparency

Most prop firms aren’t fully transparent, which makes it hard to know what the real rules are. Here’s the straightforward version without the hidden details.

Trading Rules Transparency

Alpha Capital provides clear and transparent trading rules, including defined profit targets, drawdown limits, and guidelines for news trading and EA usage. However, there are some strategy-related restrictions that are easily available on the Prohibited Trading Section, which traders should always consider before joining.

  • Restricted Strategies: Alpha Capital prohibits strategies that exploit unrealistic pricing or trading opportunities. Restricted practices include latency trading, arbitrage trading, high-frequency trading, reverse trading or group hedging, spamming the order book, and group trading or signal following. Additionally, all trades must remain open for a minimum of two minutes. These rules are in place to uphold fair trading standards and maintain the integrity of the platform.
  • Consistency Rule: At Alpha Capital, the consistency rule applies to traders with the Payout-on-Demand option. The 40% Best Day Rule requires that no single trading day accounts for more than 40% of the total profits generated. Additionally, traders must maintain a minimum of 2% gross profit relative to their account balance. These guidelines promote steady performance and disciplined risk management.
  • Minimum Trading Days: A minimum of five trading days is required to qualify for payouts for traders using the biweekly payout option.

Payout Transparency

Payout Junction verifies that Alpha Capital has distributed over $48 million across more than 21K payouts, including one exceeding $109K, demonstrating the firm’s fairness and commitment to transparent, trader-focused payout practices. (Check Date: 30 Oct 2025)

Note: Payout Junction only tracks payments made through Riseworks, so it doesn’t provide the full picture, but it still serves as a useful metric for evaluation.

General Transparency

Website: The Alpha Capital website features a clean, professional, and user-friendly design that makes navigation effortless. Challenges, rules, and FAQs are clearly presented, while the terms and client agreement are easy to locate, reflecting the firm’s commitment to transparency. With a trader-focused layout, integrated AI chatbot, intuitive search function, and responsive support, the platform provides an efficient and trustworthy user experience.

Social Media: Alpha Capital maintains a strong online presence, with over 82K followers and more than 1,800 posts on Instagram. Its YouTube channel has over 34K subscribers and more than 1K videos, while its Twitter account boasts around 78K followers. Additionally, the firm’s active Discord community further reinforces its strong digital footprint and engagement with traders.

Risk Management: Alpha Capital enforces strict risk management policies to ensure fair and consistent trading conditions. The rules prohibit gambling behavior and promote trading consistency by not allowing traders to lose or risk 2% or more in a single trade or in a group of trades closed around the same time. It also enforces that at least 50% of profits must come from trades held longer than 2 minutes to avoid High Frequency Trading. In addition, practices such as latency trading, arbitrage, reverse trading, group hedging, order book spamming, and coordinated group or signal trading are strictly forbidden.

Challenges

4.4
How Did We Rate the Firm's Challenges?
Challenges are the gateway to the world of proprietary trading. To assess each firm's challenge structure, we thoroughly reviewed the full range of offerings, evaluating their diversity, complexity, and accessibility. As the industry benchmark, we focused on the two-step challenge. For this challenge type, we analyzed key factors for each step, including profit target, profit-to-drawdown ratio, daily drawdown limit, overall drawdown limit, leverage, maximum risk per trade, time limit, required number of trading days, and minimum profitable trading days. In addition, we assessed the ratio between the profit target and the total drawdown for both steps, which helped us gauge the overall difficulty and fairness of the challenge.
Chart

Alpha Capital offers 1-Step, 2-Step, and 3-Step challenges, each designed to accommodate different trading styles. The profit target is slightly higher than the average in the 2-Step (Alpha Pro & Swing) and 3-Step challenges, making them a bit more challenging to pass, while the 1-Step challenge provides profit and drawdown parameters aligned with industry standards. All challenges include standard parameters such as Maximum Drawdown, Daily Drawdown, and a Profit Target. A minimum of three trading days is required for each phase, except for Alpha One, which requires only one trading day. News trading, Expert Advisors (EAs), and copy trading are permitted, giving traders added flexibility in their approach.

At least 50% of profits must come from trades held longer than 2 minutes. If trades under 2 minutes generate more than 50% of the profit in either funded or evaluation accounts, the rule is violated.

  • Drawdown Rules: All Alpha Capital challenges feature both a Daily Drawdown Limit and a Maximum Drawdown. The Maximum Drawdown is static (6%–10% of the initial balance), except for the 1-Step Alpha One, which uses a trailing (Balance based) drawdown. Daily Drawdown Limits (3%–5%) are trailing across all programs, calculated from the highest end-of-day balance or equity for Alpha One, Alpha Pro 6%, and Alpha Three, and from the Highest End of Day account balance for Alpha 8% and Alpha 10%. Note: The starting balance and equity refer to the account balance and equity at the beginning of the daily candle (broker time), which is 00:00 GMT+2.
  • Profit-to-drawdown ratios: Alpha Capital maintains a competitive profit-to-drawdown structure across all programs. The Alpha One program requires a 10% profit target with a 6% maximum drawdown, resulting in a 1.67 ratio. The Alpha Pro 6% (2-step program) applies a 6% profit target and 6% maximum drawdown in both phases (1:1). The Alpha Pro 8% (2-step program) offers an 8% target and 8% maximum drawdown in phase one (1:1), followed by a 5% target and 8% drawdown in phase two (0.6). The Alpha Pro 10% and Swing (2-step programs) require a 10% target and 10% maximum drawdown in phase one (1:1), and a 5% target with 10% drawdown in phase two (0.5). The Alpha Three program features an 8% target and 6% maximum drawdown in phase one (1.3), followed by 4% targets and 6% maximum drawdowns in phases two and three (0.67).
  • Flexibility: Alpha Capital supports a wide range of trading strategies, including day trading, swing trading, scalping, automated trading, copy trading, and news trading, providing traders with exceptional flexibility. With no consistency rules during the Evaluation phase, leverage of up to 1:100, and a scaling plan that extends up to $2 million, traders have ample freedom to grow and manage their accounts effectively.
  • Profit splits: The profit split remains 80% for both On-Demand and Bi-Weekly payout options across all account types, including the 1-Step, 2-Step, and 3-Step programs.

Price

4.5
How Did We Rate the Firm's Price?
Challenge cost is a key factor in assessing a prop firm's overall value. In this category, we evaluate how much trading capital a trader receives relative to their entry fee by analyzing the price-to-capital ratio across one-step, two-step, and three-step challenges. To determine whether a firm offers good value for money, we use a simple formula that shows how much trading capital is provided for every 1% of the entry fee paid:
Capital Efficiency = Sum of All Account Balances / Sum of All Challenge Fee
Chart

Alpha Capital’s pricing is generally competitive, with most programs offering true capital per dollar rates that are close to or better than industry benchmarks. The 1 Step and 3 Step challenges perform especially well, coming in above their respective benchmarks. The 2 Step programs with 6% and 8% drawdown are also reasonably aligned with the standard 14.39 benchmark. Only the 10% drawdown options fall noticeably below the benchmark, offering less capital value per dollar spent.

How Do We Assess The Competitiveness of the Firm’s Costs?

True Capital per Dollar (TCPD)

Prop firm account sizes can look impressive, but they’re deceptive. The advertised balance isn’t real money you can trade; your usable capital is limited by the firm’s maximum drawdown.

That means if a $100,000 account has a 10% drawdown, you can only risk $10,000 before losing the account. The rest is just display, not actual capital.

True Capital per Dollar (TCPD) shows how much real, usable capital you get for every $1 you spend.

Formula:

TCPD=(Account Size×Max Drawdown %)÷Challenge Price

Example:

Account Max DD Price TCPD
$100,000 10% $500  $20
$100,000 6% $350 $17

Even if one challenge costs less, the higher TCPD tells you which option gives more usable capital for every dollar spent. It cuts through the marketing hype and shows what you’re actually paying for, not the illusion of a bigger account.

Alpha Capital Cost Competitiveness vs. Industry Benchmark

Challenge Type Funded Drawdown Average Funding Per Dollar Industry Benchmark
1 Step (Alpha One) 6% $10.96 7.9
2 Step (Alpha Pro 6%) 6% $13.33 14.39
2 Step (Alpha Pro 8%) 8% $12.47 14.39
2 Step (Alpha Pro 10%) 10% $18.26 14.39
2 Step (Swing) 10% $15.63 14.39
3 Step (Alpha Three) 6% $14.76 13.74

Refund Policies

Alpha Capital does not refund challenge fees upon successful passing of a challenge, unlike many other prop firms.

Trading Conditions

4.0
How Did We Rate the Firm's Conditions?
Trading conditions are the rules of the game. Understanding them is essential because it directly impacts strategy selection, trade timing, and risk management. To evaluate the full scope of a firm's trading conditions, we examined key elements such as trading fees (including spreads, commissions, and swap fees), available trading platforms, the range of tradable instruments, and the leverage offered. We also reviewed any prohibited trading styles and the presence of a consistency rule, if applicable. In addition, our assessment covered the conditions applied to funded accounts, scaling programs, inactivity policies, and the availability of demo accounts and Islamic (swap-free) accounts.
Chart

Overall, Alpha Capital offers solid trading conditions that are consistent with industry standards. The spreads are favorable, and traders can choose between the Raw or Standard assessment accounts. Multiple platforms are supported, including MT5, DXTrade, TradeLocker, and cTrader, allowing traders to access forex, energies, metals, and indices. The maximum leverage is set at 1:100, and swap-free accounts are not available. However, the range of just 40 trading instruments may feel somewhat limited for those seeking broader market exposure.

Alpha Capital offers two account types with competitive trading conditions:

Alpha Capital keeps the same trading conditions from evaluation to funded status, unlike firms that tighten rules after funding. The only exception is the 2-Step Alpha Pro accounts, which do not permit weekend positions at the funded stage, and triple swaps are applied on Wednesday. News-trading limits vary by program, with either a 4-minute or 10-minute restriction window depending on the account type. In the Alpha Swing Plan:Trading during major news events is allowed. However, if a trade is initiated within 2 minutes before or up to 2 minutes after a news release (a 4-minute window), its duration must exceed 2 minutes for the trade to be valid.

The consistency rule in the funded stage applies only to On-Demand payout accounts. Both the Alpha One and Swing (2-Step) programs offer only the On-Demand payout option. Leverage, copy trading, EAs, and drawdown limits remain unchanged between the evaluation and funded phases.

Consistency Rule

Alpha Capital does not apply a consistency rule during the evaluation phase or for traders using the Bi-Weekly payout option. It applies only to accounts with the On-Demand payout option. For the Alpha One and Swing plans, the On-Demand payout is mandatory, so the consistency rule must be followed. Traders must ensure that no single trading day contributes more than 40% of total profits.

Scaling Plan

Alpha Capital’s scaling plan lets traders grow their virtual capital up to $2 million by achieving a 10% gain on their account balance. Eligible plans include Alpha Pro, Swing, and Three. After a payout and account reset, traders can request scaling, with each scale increasing the balance by 10% of the original amount. A 10% lot size increase is added from the second scale onward.

KYC (Know Your Customer)

Alpha Capital requires all traders to complete KYC verification before receiving a funded account. A valid government-issued ID (passport, driver’s license, or national ID) must be submitted; residence permits and digital or laminated copies are not accepted. A selfie is required for facial verification, and the account holder must complete the process personally. The use of VPS or VPN during KYC is prohibited, and verification is typically completed within 24–48 working hours. Traders from banned countries may onboard only if residing in a non-banned country with a valid passport, while those from non-banned countries living abroad may use their original ID.

Payouts

4.4
How Did We Rate the Firm's Payouts?
To evaluate a prop firm's payout structure, we looked at more than just the profit split. We analyzed the profit-sharing terms, along with any bonuses or promotional incentives offered to traders. Our assessment included a close review of payout frequency, the variety of available withdrawal methods, processing times, and any associated withdrawal fees. We also checked for specific conditions tied to first and minimum withdrawals, ensuring traders have transparent and fair access to their earnings.
Chart

Alpha Capital offers flexible payouts with no lock, letting traders choose bi-weekly or on-demand withdrawals. The rules are fairly standard and mainly aimed at preventing payout-gaming, while still being easy to meet for steady traders. I think the 80/20 split, zero fees, and ~2-day processing, makes their payout terms solid and competitive.

On-Demands Payout:

  • Adhere to the 40% best day rule (No Single day can have more than 40% of Total Profits)
  • Have a minimum of 2% of gross profits on the account balance
  • The use of minimal lots to pass trading days on a qualified account is not allowed, as it defeats the purpose of the 5-trading-day period.

Bi-weekly payout:

  • A minimum of five trading days is required.
  • The minimum payout amount is $100, calculated from the gross profit.

Profit Split

Alpha Capital offers a standard profit split of 80% to the trader and 20% to the firm.

Fees $0
Processing Time 2 business days
Payout Frequency On Demand, Bi-weekly

Bonuses and Promotions

Alpha Capital rewards successful traders with a 0.25% bonus on their fourth payout, added directly to the payout amount. The firm also runs contests, offers an affiliate program, and occasionally provides discounts or special promotions during specific events.

Support

4.7
How Did We Rate the Firm's Support?
In this category, we evaluated the availability and responsiveness of customer support, including the number of contact channels offered—such as live chat, email, and messaging apps. We tested each channel to assess response time, helpfulness, and overall support quality. We also assessed the firm's commitment to trader education by reviewing the range and quality of available learning materials. This included videos, articles, eBooks, webinars, and structured courses aimed at helping traders grow their skills and knowledge.
Chart

In my experience, Alpha Capital offers decent customer support through multiple channels, including an AI chatbot, live chat, email, ticketing, and a detailed FAQ section. Their educational resources are also helpful for new traders. While the AI chatbot can be somewhat limited in accuracy, the live support team is responsive, knowledgeable, and efficient.

Customer Support Test

I contacted Alpha Capital’s live chat multiple times and consistently received quick, helpful responses. Their support team is available Monday to Friday (08:00 am to 08:00 pm GMT), and based on my experience, I can confirm that Alpha Capital’s customer service is reliable and responsive.

Education

Alpha Capital offers valuable educational content through its YouTube channel, featuring trading tips and platform insights. It also has a blog with prop trading tutorials and industry updates.

The Bottom Line

In my view, Alpha Capital operates as a structured and reputable proprietary trading firm, offering clear rules, tight spreads, and low commissions. It provides flexible challenge models, access to 40+ instruments, and supports all major trading styles, including day trading, swing trading, scalping, news trading, and algorithmic strategies.

Pricing across account types is competitive, and traders can use DXTrade, cTrader, TradeLocker, and MT5. The firm offers profit splits up to 80% and a scaling plan up to $2 million, making it attractive for traders focused on long-term growth. The main limitations are the absence of crypto and stock trading, and a consistency rule that may constrain certain strategies.

Overall, Alpha Capital appeals to traders seeking flexibility, scalable capital, fast payouts, and strong performance incentives within a professional trading environment.
