✅ Verdict: In my opinion, FTMO is a leading proprietary trading firm founded in 2015 with a strong global reputation. The only challenge it provides is a two-step evaluation process focused on discipline and consistency, which is fine for me as I prefer the two-step, but it’s not necessarily what every trader wants. Traders get access to multiple asset classes via MT4, MT5, cTrader, and DXtrade with account sizes up to $200,000 and scaling options up to $2 Million.

Prop firms often advertise “flexible trading conditions,” but I’ve noticed the fine print usually comes with important caveats. In my assessment, FTMO allows all types of legit trading styles, including day trading, swing trading, and scalping. It also permits automated strategies through Expert Advisors and Copy Trading, which is nice.
In the FTMO 2-Step Swing account, you can trade news freely in the challenge and funded phases. In the FTMO 2-Step Normal challenge phases, traders can also trade freely through news events, but the 2-Step Normal funded stage restricts opening or closing trades on instruments 2 minutes before and after high-impact news. In my opinion, this benefits swing and news traders, while the Standard model limits flexibility and requires precise timing around major events.
FTMO supports swing trading on its 2-step Swing accounts and during the Challenge phase of 2-step Normal accounts, so positions can be held overnight, across multiple days, and through news events. In the 2-step Normal Funded Stage, trades must be closed before the weekend or if the rollover exceeds two hours, with standard swap charges and market risks applying.
FTMO allows scalping, enabling traders to open and close positions within seconds or minutes, provided all risk management rules are followed. However, strategies involving tick exploitation, high-frequency trading (HFT), latency arbitrage, or price manipulation are strictly prohibited.
FTMO supports day trading, fast execution, leverage up to 1:100, low spreads, and commissions.
FTMO permits automated trading using Expert Advisors (EAs), provided they are not third-party services and fully comply with risk management rules. EAs must not employ manipulative practices, high-frequency trading, or exploitative strategies.
FTMO allows copy trading but third party signals are not allowed; traders are fully responsible for all trades and must comply with risk rules. Copying is only allowed if trades follow normal account regulations and do not involve manipulative or high-frequency strategies.
Traders have access to a wide range of instruments, including Forex, Indices, Commodities, Stocks, Metals, Energies, and Cryptocurrencies, enabling diversification of strategies across multiple markets and asset classes.

| ⭐Trustpilot Rating | 4.8 |
In my opinion, FTMO is highly trustworthy. From my experience, payouts are consistent and timely, and verified proofs online back this up. Their Trustpilot rating of around 4.8 matches what I’ve researched, which is clear rules, a professional platform, and helpful community support. I’ve used both their AI chatbot and live chat, and both provided me with accurate and fast assistance. Overall, the platform is user-friendly, and the evaluation-to-funding process felt smooth and straightforward, which gave me confidence in trusting them with my trading.
FTMO is a highly stable proprietary trading firm founded in 2015 and headquartered in Prague, Czech Republic, and from my research, they are one of the most reliable firms out there. It has grown steadily, serving traders worldwide with a professional team of 300+ members. The firm has over 3.5 million customers, paid $500 million in rewards, and operates in 140+ countries. FTMO also maintains a strong trader community with 100K Discord members and 400K YouTube subscribers. Overall, it demonstrates consistent performance, reliability, and long-term stability.
For FTMO, the Trustpilot rating is currently around 4.8 out of 5 based on thousands of reviews.
Most prop firms aren’t fully transparent, which makes it hard to know what the real rules are. Here’s the straightforward version without the hidden details.
FTMO provides clear and well-structured trading rules, including specific profit targets, maximum daily losses, and overall drawdown limits. Traders must follow restrictions on news trading, automated strategies (EAs), and high-risk tactics, while overnight and weekend trade holding is allowed in Swing accounts, whereas in Normal accounts, overnight holding is allowed but weekend holding is restricted. All rules should be carefully reviewed before joining.
In my opinion, FTMO is highly transparent when it comes to payouts. The firm regularly shares verified payout proofs and trader success stories across its community channels like instagram with 513k followers, 912 posts, and discord with 105k members community, which builds confidence among members. My own experience confirms that withdrawals are processed reliably and on time, consistent with what’s shared publicly.
Website: FTMO’s website is professional, user-friendly, and easy to navigate, with clear access to challenges, account types, trading rules, terms, and FAQs. The platform includes an AI chatbot, search functionality, and responsive support, making it simple to find information and resolve queries.
Social Media: FTMO maintains a strong online presence across multiple platforms. It has 100K+ Discord members, 511K Instagram followers with 909 posts, and 35K LinkedIn followers, along with large communities on YouTube with 413k subscribers and 451 videos, and Twitter. Verified payouts and active community discussions on these platforms contribute to a high level of transparency, reinforcing trust in the firm.
Risk Management: FTMO’s risk management rules are there so that when you trade, even though it’s a simulation, what you do can be replicated in the real market, and they can ensure you’re following a set strategy that requires trading skills not just guesswork or luck. What this translates to is that all your trades must follow consistent position sizing patterns to prevent skewed performance during the evaluation phases. You must also make sure that your overall exposure is carefully controlled, avoiding excessive risk concentration on a single symbol or correlated instruments.
FTMO operates a two-step evaluation process, which includes the Challenge and Verification phases, and you can choose between the Normal and Swing account types. The Normal account provides leverage of up to 1:100 but restricts overnight position holding beyond two hours, weekend holding, and news trading during the funded stage. The Swing account applies the same risk rules while offering lower leverage of 1:30 and allowing overnight and weekend holding as well as unrestricted news trading. Across both account types, arbitrage, tick manipulation, and high-frequency trading (HFT) are strictly prohibited to ensure fair and realistic market conditions.

The Challenge Difficulty Metric assesses FTMO’s programs against industry standards to gauge their real trading challenge. It considers profit targets, drawdown limits, leverage, and consistency requirements. Restrictions on news trading, automated systems, copy trading, and overnight positions are also included. All factors are combined into a single difficulty rating. This helps traders realistically understand their chances of passing.
| Very Low Difficulty | Low Difficulty | Moderate Difficulty | High Difficulty | Extreme Difficulty |
|---|
The FTMO Normal Account Challenge is considered low difficulty, with a profit-to-drawdown ratio of 0.75. It features a static maximum drawdown, while the daily drawdown resets at the end of each trading day. The account does not allow overnight (if the gap is more than 2 hours) or weekend position holding and offers leverage of up to 1:100.
The Swing Account Challenge is considered low difficulty as well, following the same profit targets and drawdown rules as the Normal account. However, it allows overnight and weekend position holding as well as unrestricted news trading, while offering lower leverage of 1:30.

FTMO’s pricing is the same for normal and swing accounts and at the premium end, reflecting its reputation, strict risk controls, and institutional-grade infrastructure. The fees are average, and I converted them to dollars so it would be comparable to other firms, and you can see that mostly the true cost-per-dollar aligns with industry benchmarks, although technically it’s most worth it to buy a bigger account size because you get more value. Even though it lacks ultra-low entry price, I think the pricing is justified for serious traders, as it has a mature trading ecosystem, appealing to traders who value stability and clear rules over low cost.
FTMO pricing varies by platform, with cTrader accounts typically priced higher than MetaTrader due to platform licensing and execution costs.
| Account size | FTMO Challenge (2-Step) |
| $10K | €89 (€11.23 per €1) |
| $25K | €250 (€10 per €1) |
| $50K | €345 (€14.49 per €1) |
| $100K | €540 (€18.52 per €1) |
| $200K | €1,080 (€18.52 per €1) |
True Capital per Euro (TCPE)
Prop firm account sizes can be misleading. While a firm may advertise a large account balance, that figure does not represent real, usable capital. What actually matters is the maximum drawdown, because that’s the true amount you can lose before the account is breached.
For example, a $100,000 account with a 10% maximum drawdown only gives you $10,000 of usable capital. The remaining $90,000 is effectively just a number on the screen.
True Capital per Dollar (TCPE) measures how much real trading capital you receive for every €1 spent on a challenge. It cuts through marketing optics and focuses on what traders genuinely pay for.
TCPE = (Account Size × Maximum Drawdown %) ÷ Challenge Price
| Account Size | Max Drawdown | Price | TCPE |
| $100,000 | 10% | €540 | €18.5 |
| $100,000 | 6% | €350 | €11.1 |
Even if a challenge appears cheaper upfront, a higher TCPE indicates better value because it provides more usable capital per dollar. This metric removes the illusion of large balances and highlights which prop firm truly offers stronger cost efficiency.
| Account Size | Max Drawdown | FTMO Challenge TCPE (in $) | Industry Benchmark Range (in $) |
| $10,000 | 10% | $104.39 ($9.57) | ($14 per $1) |
| $25000 | 10% | $293.23 ($8.52) | ($14 per $1) |
| $50000 | 10% | $404.65 ($12.35) | ($14 per $1) |
| $100000 | 10% | $633.37 ($15.78) | ($14 per $1) |
| $200000 | 10% | $1266.74 ($15.78) | ($14 per $1) |
FTMO offers a clear and trader-friendly refund policy. The challenge fee is fully refundable with the first profit split payout once a trader reaches the funded stage and requests their initial withdrawal. If no trades are placed, the fee can also be refunded before trading begins, provided no rules are violated. However, if the account breaches trading rules during the Challenge or Verification phases, the fee becomes non-refundable.
Unlike some firms, FTMO does not offer account reactivation after a breach. If a funded account is lost due to rule violations, traders must purchase a new Challenge at full price to continue. While this may seem strict, it reinforces FTMO’s emphasis on disciplined risk management and aligns with its institutional-style trading framework.
There are no reactivation or reset fees at FTMO. Each breach requires a fresh evaluation, which keeps the rules simple and avoids hidden recovery costs.
When I traded with FTMO i saw that they offer institutional-grade trading conditions that are firmly aligned with industry standards, which I appreciate. They use a commission-based pricing model with tight spreads, reliable execution, and deep liquidity, so the account is suitable for any serious trader. FTMO supports MetaTrader 4, MetaTrader 5, DXtrade and cTrader, which is a nice mix of options, and has a leverage of up to 1:100 on Forex, so it’s standard. They have a pretty comprehensive list of assets, including: Forex, Indices, Commodities, Metals, Cryptocurrencies, and Stocks. While trading costs are generally competitive, the strict equity-based drawdown rules can make short-term market swings more dangerous, especially for traders with more aggressive strategies.
FTMO operates a commission-based account structure where most instruments have standard commissions, paired with relatively tight raw spreads. This structure favors active traders who prioritize execution quality and transparency over spread-only pricing.
FTMO provides leverage that meets or slightly exceeds industry norms, particularly in Forex for the normal account. You can ask for the leverage to be lowered at any time if you’re more risk-conscious. For the Swing account, the leverage is lower. Leverage varies by asset class as outlined below:
| Assets | Leverage Normal | Leverage Swing |
| Forex | 1:100 | 1:30 |
| Indices | 1:50 | 1:15 |
| Commodities | 1:30 | 1:9 |
| Metals | 1:30 | 1:9 |
| Cryptocurrencies | 1:3.33 | 1:1 |
| Stocks | 1:3.33 | 1:1 |
FTMO maintains a transparent and predictable cost structure, combining commissions with low spreads. Unlike swap-free models, overnight swap fees apply to most instruments, except on designated swap-free (Islamic) accounts.
FTMO’s spreads are generally lower than the industry average, particularly on major Forex pairs and indices. This benefits scalpers and intraday traders who rely on tight execution.
| Instruments | FTMO Spreads | Industry Average |
| EUR/USD | 0.1 pips | 0.2 pips |
| BTCUSD | $1.00 | $27 |
| WTI | 0.02 | 0.047 |
| GOLD | 27 Cents | 26 cents |
| US30 | 2.38 Points | 3.14 points |
FTMO applies standard commissions across most asset classes, closely aligned with institutional benchmarks.
| Instruments | FTMO Account (Round Turn) | Industry Average |
| Forex | $5 per lot | $4 round trip |
| Metals | 0.0014% per volume ($0.07) | $4 round trip |
| Indices | $0 (commission-free) | $0/Lot (Zero commission instrument) |
| Commodities | $0 (commission-free) | $0/Lot (Zero commission instrument) |
| Cryptocurrencies | 0.065% per volume | 0.05% per trade per volume |
FTMO applies standard overnight swap fees on most instruments. However, traders can request swap-free (Islamic) accounts, making it accessible for swing and longer-term traders who need compliance or overnight flexibility.
My overall assessment considers both commissions and spreads. I would say FTMO’s trading costs are competitive or even favorable compared with industry averages. The combination of tight spreads, commissions, and stable execution makes FTMO especially attractive for disciplined day traders and swing traders.
| Instruments | Trading Fee | Industry Average |
| EUR/USD | $6 | $8 |
| BTC | $59.50 | $35 |
| WTI | $2 | $4.70 |
| GOLD | $28 | $28 |
| US30 | $2.38 | $3.14 |
| Strategy | FTMO Interpretation |
| Excessive Scalping | Scalping itself is allowed, but strategies that create hyperactive accounts (e.g., excessive order modifications or more than ~2,000 server requests per day) are prohibited. Ultra-short, exploitative execution behavior may lead to disqualification. |
| All-In Trading | Taking disproportionately large positions relative to normal trade size, or placing one-sided bets that expose the account to full drawdown risk, violates FTMO’s risk management standards. |
| Gamifying | Random, non-strategic trading behavior aimed at exploiting drawdown limits rather than applying a real trading strategy is prohibited. Trades must reflect realistic market participation. |
| Automated Trading (EAs) | EAs are allowed, but only if they do not exploit latency, pricing errors, or overload FTMO servers. Automated systems causing excessive activity or unfair advantage are strictly forbidden. |
| Reverse / Group Hedging | Coordinated trading across multiple accounts, including placing opposing positions between accounts to neutralize risk or guarantee outcomes, is prohibited. |
| Hedging Abuse | Hedging is permitted within a single account, but abusive or coordinated hedging across accounts or platforms is considered manipulation and is not allowed. |
| News Trading Restrictions | Gap trading around major news events is prohibited. Opening trades during high-impact news releases or shortly before market closures (within 2 hours) that may create artificial gaps is not allowed. |
| Gap Trading | Opening positions during expected volatility gaps such as macroeconomic announcements or illiquid market hours, is considered high-risk and not reasonably replicable in live markets. |
| Latency / Price Exploitation | Any strategy that takes advantage of delayed price feeds, execution lags, or platform errors, intentionally or unintentionally, is strictly prohibited. |
| Copy Trading | Copy trading is permitted only between a trader’s own FTMO accounts. Copying signals from third parties or managing accounts for others is not allowed. |
| Third-Party Account Use | Accounts are for personal use only. Allowing others to trade on your behalf or trading on someone else’s FTMO account is prohibited. |
| Prop Firm Employees | Traders affiliated with other proprietary trading firms or managing accounts for third parties are not permitted to participate. |
FTMO provides access to 70+ tradable instruments across major asset classes, focusing on high-liquidity, globally traded markets. While FTMO does not attempt to inflate asset count with illiquid products, its instrument selection comfortably meets industry standards and supports diversified, professional trading strategies.

FTMO supports MetaTrader 4, MetaTrader 5, DXtrade and cTrader, delivering fast execution, institutional-grade liquidity, advanced charting, and full compatibility with discretionary and automated trading. The platform suite is stable and well-optimized, catering to both retail and professional traders.
FTMO offers swap-free (Islamic) accounts upon request, subject to approval. These accounts eliminate overnight interest while maintaining identical trading conditions, ensuring compliance with Islamic finance principles.
FTMO provides demo accounts for testing and platform familiarization.
FTMO enforces a minimum trading activity requirement. Traders must place at least one trade within 30 consecutive calendar days across all phases. Failure to do so may result in account suspension.
FTMO has no consistency rule in the challenge or funded phases in either of their account types which is great news.
FTMO operates on a typical scaling plan that is based on performance and on time. Traders who achieve at least 10% net profit over four months, with a minimum of two payouts, become eligible for scaling.
FTMO requires full KYC verification before the first payout. Traders must submit a valid government-issued ID and complete identity verification. The process is straightforward and typically completed within 1–2 business days.
FTMO has one of the strongest payout reputations in the industry, with thousands of publicly verified withdrawals shared across Discord, YouTube, and social media.
FTMO offers an 80% base profit split, scalable up to 90% through its performance-based scaling plan.

In my experience, FTMO provides really great customer support, they had fast enough response times and they were also able to answer my questions accurately and any didn’t struggle because i could see they had deep platform knowledge. I can confidently say that the support team is professional, consistent, and well-trained.

When i spoke with and agent through the live chat the responses typically took between 2-5 minutes and when i used their ticket system and sent an email it was around 24 hours until i received a response. Educational support and rule clarifications are especially strong.
FTMO stands out for its exceptional educational ecosystem, including:
This places FTMO well above most competitors in trader development resources.
In my view, FTMO represents one of the most stable and professionally structured proprietary trading firms in the industry. I wouldn’t think twice about buying a challenge here because I know that although their rules might be tough they are fair. I also know that i’m not going to be tricked or randomly banned and that if i pass i will get my payout. As for cost, they are in line with industry standards, but keep in mind that they don’t have an ultra low starting cost so only buy if you’re sure of your skills and risk management.
I would say that you also really need to like to do two step challenges because thats all they offer which puts them behind almost everyone else in the industry. Basically if you value consistency and risk management then you’ll have a good time with this firm. They have average trading conditions which reflect the real market and a wide variety of assets to trade with.
As for their education its top notch and teaches you everything you need to know about trading and prop firms the only thing i didnt like is that they say you can trade as a beginner. I know it took me around 6 months until i somewhat confident in trading and strategies,so keep that in mind.
