In 2021, gamers propagated crypto, blockchain, NFTs, Metaverse, and more to the mainstream audience. As per a trend prediction report from Newzoo, the wave will shift towards a much deeper interaction between individuals and these platforms.

Firstly amongst many things, the report mentioned what the future holds regarding the gaming business model. According to Newzoo, play-to-earn games are going to blow up this year.

Citing the success of games such as Axie Infinity, other publishers might also begin integrating blockchain technology into their games.

The tokens of these games have happened to perform exceptionally in 2021. Axie Infinity Shards, for example, rallied by 33,366% from January to its peak in November.

With over half the world’s population involved in gaming, this will prove to be a profitable strategy for game developers.

Most of the proto-Metaverse games (including Metaverse characteristics but aren’t entirely submerged in the tech) have a much younger audience than others.

Such games, including Fortnite, Minecraft, etc., have almost twice as many young players as traditional video games do. Players aged between the age groups of 10 to 35 are more involved in the Metaverse games.

And this cohort could continue to prefer similar games in the future, as well as ditching traditional games.

If this transition occurs, Metaverse would observe significantly higher monetary inflow both in-game and through equipment.

Newzoo mentioned the same, predicting the anticipation that the virtual world will increase investment and VR sales this year.

Another vital prediction discussed was concerning NFTs and their utilization amongst the community.

The analytics company stated that these NFTs could become high-profile luxury objects such as expensive paintings and unique things.

The growing likeness amongst celebrities regarding NFTs will result in its producers like Lava Labs becoming luxurious lifestyle brands.

Endorsement from celebrities like Snoop Dogg, Justin Bieber, Paris Hilton; Followed by marketing from platforms like Twitter, will place NFTs on the watchlist for the more affluent cohorts.
