Euro and Pound Being Watched as Week Begins, Gold Remains Strong

Economic data from the States will be light today, but two speeches will come from Federal Reserve members today.

The Halifax HPI will be released in the U.K. The Pound and Euro appear to be firm against the U.S Dollar early this morning.

Two Federal Reserve Members Speaking, Wall Street Keeps Rolling Higher

Investors will begin trading in the U.S with their eyes glued to Wall Street as the major Indexes stand within record highs. Economic data from the U.S will be light today. But there will be two speeches later from Federal Reserve members, which could shed light on a timetable for interest rate hikes from the U.S central bank. The Bank of Canada will issue a Business Outlook Survey today.

Mixed Results from China Exchanges, Japan on Banking Holiday

The Shanghai Shenzhen and Hang Seng composites have seen mixed results early this morning. The Nikkei from Japan is closed today for a national holiday, but the gains made last week in the equity Index remain a talking point. The Yen has been weaker against the U.S Dollar and is above the 113.00 juncture. Tomorrow, Average Cash Earnings data will come from Japan.

HPI Data from the U.K on the Calendar, Pound, and Euro Sustain Values

The Halifax Home Price Index will be released in the U.K this morning. And on Wednesday important manufacturing data will be released for Britain. The Pound, along with the Euro has maintained its stronger value against the U.S Dollar and will get plenty of attention this week as traders emerge in full after their long holiday slumber. Retail Sales numbers will come from the European Union today.

Bullish Speculative Fever Short Term, Will Headwinds Develop for Gold?

Gold is on a must watch list – as it continues to trade near important high water marks. The precious metal is around 1321.00 U.S Dollars an ounce. While some traders may believe headwinds will develop for Gold, the speculative fever has been noticeably bullish in the short term.

Investor Survey for the European Union, Bank of Canada Business Report

The European Union will see a Sentix Investor Confidence report at 9:30 GMT which could stir investor interest.
