Each month, new prop firms emerge in the marketplace, funded by venture capitalists and accelerated by the use of AI in DevOps and infrastructure. With such huge numbers, it can get extremely confusing when choosing the right prop firm. You also have to account for the hidden fees and rules so that you don’t incur needless overnight holding costs.

To aid you in your decision, we have tested out various top prop firms offering swing trading challenges. The process took many hours as we had to evaluate all of them based on multiple criteria, including fees, swaps, slippages, drawdowns, and profit target, to name a few. Most of these companies may look similar at first, but once you dive in, you get to understand the real differences.

Since it’s impossible to find a fit for all, I have categorized the firms under different subheadings, such as best for beginners or best for those seeking a good scaling plan.

Dedicated Swing account on the 2-Step challenge, CFD forex/indices/commodities/stocks, leverage 1:30 on Swing accounts, MT4/MT5/cTrader, standardized 5% daily and 10% max loss limits

Four Stellar challenge types, 1-Step, 2-Step, Lite, Instant, CFD forex/indices/commodities/crypto, leverage up to 1:100, MT4/MT5/cTrader/Match-Trader, most aggressive scaling in the industry at 25% every 4 months up to $4,000,000

1-Step and 2-Step challenges, CFD forex/metals/indices/commodities/crypto, leverage up to 1:100, MT5/cTrader/DXTrade, unique Trade2Earn loyalty program, 15% evaluation profit reward, weekly payouts, no consistency rules at any stage

1-Step/2-Step/3-Step plus Futures, CFD forex/metals/indices/crypto, leverage 1:30, MT5/cTrader (TradingView for US), profit splits up to 100%, scales to $4,000,000

Forex: E8 Signature, E8 One, E8 Pro | Futures: E8 Signature | Crypto: E8 Signature, E8 One, E8 Pro, leverage up to 1:30, TradeLocker/MatchTrader/cTrader/MT5, profit split up to 100%, daily payouts available on E8 Pro, $500K max account size

How Did FXEmpire Choose the Best Prop Firms for Swing Trading?

When I was starting out in prop trading in 2016, there were only a few online companies that were offering capital to traders. You choose between 2 and 4 and be on your way. Now, as I mentioned above, the number is huge. To ensure that I had inspected all the nitty-gritty, I went deep into their crevices, i.e., reached out to the support, rang their numbers, to get all the information before putting it here. I then compared the statistics against the common industry standards, giving them a rating based on trust,  payout reliability, trading rules, costs, platform stability, and long-term viability.

Prop Firm Reputation & Trust: Trust is something that is developed over the years as different traders test out the service and leave their feedback on Trustpilot and other independent sources. You can see that some companies change their motives when traders become profitable. They use tactics to deny payouts or suspend accounts, which is why it is essential that we go through this deeply.

Swing Trading Rules & Restrictions: You won’t find dedicated swing trading accounts on most prop firms. Some will have rules that mimic those of a swing challenge itself. I went into each firm and examined its swing trading scenario, including overnight holding, weekend trading, challenge duration, leverage, and swap fees. I often observe that the leverage can be greatly reduced for swing challenges as compared to normal ones. Standard trading rules such as profit target and daily drawdown can be fairly consistent across prop firms.

To examine the practical application of swing trading rules, I went through the FAQs, terms and conditions, spoke with the chat, and emailed them as well to get to the bottom of their offerings.

Time Limit: By far, one of the most important metrics for swing challenges. All prop firms have a dedicated time in which you must complete your challenge. As this can coincide with the swing trades, some prop firms waive it for these accounts.

Trading Costs on Swing Trades: As swing traders, the most important factor to look at is the overnight swaps. These can eat up your profits like crazy if they are high, and your trades take days to complete. You also have to note that these challenges might be priced higher than normal ones.

News Trading Policy: I went through the prop firm policies and examined whether they allow keeping your swing trades open during news events. I also checked if they allow placing trades during major financial releases.

Payout History & Reliability: Prop Firm Match, Payout Junction, and Trustpilot reviews were examined to see if the company is thorough in its payouts. When possible, I also went into the Discord and Telegram groups to see what traders are saying about the payouts. If I smelled something fishy I reached out to support representatives to ask for clarification.

Scaling Plans for Swing Traders: For consistently profitable traders, a scaling plan is heaven. It means a straight path to over a million dollars in trading capital. Prop firms are looking for good traders as they profit when the traders do. I examined the scaling plans and saw which one provided the most capital with easy scaling rules.

Why We Picked It

While every other firm in our list simply allows overnight and weekend trading, FTMO has a dedicated account for swing traders. It has no overnight or weekend restrictions, no news trading prohibitions, and consistency rules. Traders can choose to trade forex, crypto, and indices with the swing account.

FTMO knows how to cater to traders since it has a long track record that includes serving more than 3.5 million customers worldwide and more than half a billion dollars paid to prop traders. Let’s dive more into what I liked about FTMO.

  • Clear and Transparent Rules: FTMO clearly lists all its rules and conditions in the main and the FAQ pages. You don’t have to waste time reaching out to support and clarifying little things.
  • Built for Swing Traders: As mentioned above, the account is dedicated to swing traders. You won’t find any day trading rules set in between, such as the inability to trade news or closing out trades before the end of the day.
  • Clean Drawdown Structure: Traders have to obtain a 10% profit while maintaining the 5% daily and 10% overall drawdown limit. The daily loss resets at midnight, and the maximum loss floor stays fixed. This means that there is no trailing element chasing your highest equity. Your trading cushion does not tighten as you hold your position for several days.
  • A Scaling Path: Every four months, you get a 25% increase in account balance provided that you made 10% profit, processed two rewards, and made a profit in the final cycle. Your profit shares also increase by 10% to 90% once you enter the plan. Collectively, you can trade up to 2 million dollars in trading capital. The profits can be kept in your account and can be used to increase the drawdown buffer. This is a genuine advantage for traders who think long term.
  • Payouts: FTMO offers a wide range of withdrawal options, including bank wire, Visa or Mastercard instant transfer up to $20,000, Skrill up to $3,000, and cryptocurrency. You get your challenge fee back with the first withdrawal. Payouts can be requested after 14 days onward once the funded account is active.

Pros and Cons

  • Up to $2,000,000 via Scaling Plan with 90% payout share

  • Stocks are not available
  • Cannot switch from Standard to Swing account after purchase

    $32 – $1,099
  • Profit Split
    Up to 95%
  • Account Size

Why We Picked It

If 2 million dollars is not enough, you can always go for 4 million dollars with Funded Next. The stellar product line has 4 different challenges with options to trade overnight and on the weekend. This gives you additional flexibility to hold your trade long-term with the added option of various account types. Let’s dive into what it offers us.

  • Four Account Options, All Swing-Trading Friendly: The four trading challenges include Stellar 1-Step, Stellar 2-Step, Stellar Lite, and Stellar Instant (instant funding). The 2-step challenge can be compared with one at FTMO. It requires you to obtain an 8 percent profit with a max drawdown cap at 10%. The instant account is best for those who want to start trading right away.
  • Swap Costs: Traders can choose to go swap-free by paying 10% more for the challenge. This is the best option for swing traders, as overnight fees can eat up your profits, especially if you plan on holding trades for the long term.
  • No Minimum Trading Days: Once you reach the funded stage, there are no minimum trading day requirements. On the challenges you have to trade for at least five per phase for the 2-Step and Stellar Lite, two days for the 1-Step.
  • The Strongest Scaling Structure: You will get a 25% balance increase if you have achieved at least 4% growth in each qualifying reward cycle and have a minimum active period of two months. Non-US traders also get a bonus of 15% of the original challenge profit target from the first scale-up event onwards.

Pros and Cons

    $5K - $200K

Why We Picked It

BrightFunded has by far the highest leverage available for swing accounts at 1:100. Most swing accounts camp the leverage at 1:30. The reason behind this is still unknown. From my perspective, they want traders to trade with lower lot sizes so the company can judge their trade handling abilities. Nonetheless, Bright Funded has a lead in this regard. It offers a leverage of 1:100 on forex.

  • Extensive Functionality: Traders can employ their trading algorithms on the MT5 platform. Bright Funded offers a total of 95 instruments, including forex, crypto, indices and commodities. A swap-free add-on is available for swing traders, and it is also possible to hold trades over the weekend. I guess you already guessed this, as it made our top 5 list.
  • No Consistency Rules at Any Stage: There is no consistency rule whatsoever across all accounts. If you are a swing trader and profit from two or three long runners, you won’t be penalized for it. The company has no daily profit caps, minimum number of profitable days required, and distribution requirements on how profits are spread across the calendar.
  • Rewards and Bonuses: Traders can earn a 15% Evaluation Profit Reward on all their Evaluation Phase Profits. This means once you pass the evaluation and request your first withdrawal, you’ll receive 15% of your total evaluation profits as well. The company also offers tokens as you go through the evaluation stage, which you can use for perks such as more drawdown, free challenges and discounts on new challenges

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • Up to 1:100 leverage
  • No consistency rules
  • Bright Funded tokens can be used to unlock awards
  • Earn a 15% Evaluation Profit Reward on all your Evaluation Phase Profits
Cons
  • You have to fight the AI chat to get to human support. Support email bounced
  • Max capital limit of $400k.

Best for Established Track Record

  • Price
    $22 – $850
  • Profit Split
    Up to 100%
  • Account Size
    $5K – $250K

Why We Picked It

The5ers was formed in 2016 and has served over 336,000 traders since then. There are several reasons why I picked it: no minimum profitable days requirement, no consistency rule, and no time limit on programs from start to finish. The only caveat is the 30-day inactivity rule, which is not unusual. While it also offers scaling up to $4 million, I didn’t choose it for the best scaling program, as the capital is achievable depending on the program you choose, i.e. $500k with High Stakes and $4 million with hyper growth. FundedNext is a bit more consistent and offers more, e.g. Stellar 1-Step, Stellar 2-Step, and Stellar Lite up to $ 4 million and Stellar Instant up to $2 million.

  • No Minimum Profitable Days: Once you clear the challenge stage, you are not required to maintain the minimum number of profitable trading days. If we combine this with an unlimited time limit to pass the challenge, we have a solid option to trade without any time pressure.
  • Genuine EA Support: You can trade with any EA of your choice, provided it doesn’t use tick scalping, latency arbitrage, or other exploitation strategies. The firm also has its own set of EA tools, which is something not many offer.
  • Dedicated Crypo and Futures: You can request withdrawals every two weeks. They are processed as processed via Rise, cryptocurrency, bank transfer, or as Hub Credits applied directly to your dashboard. Crypto payments come with a wide range of network support, including USDT TRC20, USDC ERC20, ETH, and LTC.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • Open EA policy with proprietary tools provided directly by the firm
  • Profit split up to 100%
  • Scales up to $4,000,000
  • Ten years of operating history
Cons
  • US traders restricted to TradingView only. There is no MT5 or cTrader access
  • Standard payout methods (Rise, crypto, bank transfer) carry a 3.5% commission

Best for 100% Profit Payout

  • Price
    $40 – $4,460
  • Profit Split
    Up to 100%
  • Account Size
    $5K – $500K

Why We Picked It

E8 Markets has tons of trading account types, with E8 One, E8 One Crypto, E8 Pro Forex, E8 Pro Crypto allowing swing trading. You also have the added option to get a 100% payout with most. In addition to that, it has a special E2 pro account that can be said as the most swing-friendly option. It follows a 1:1 drawdown-to-profit ratio and is also swap-free with an add-on. You can obtain the account by passing a single-step challenge. At the funded stage, you can withdraw your profit every single day, capped at 2% max.

  • 100% Profit Payout: Traders have the ability to get 100% of their profits at a small added fee. This is available with most programs, including E8 Pro and E8 One for both forex and cryptocurrencies. You can process your payouts via bank transfer, cryptocurrency or to your card.
  • Immediate Cashout: Their Signature E8 Pro program allows you to withdraw your profits each trading day. As mentioned above, it is capped at 2%. The company says it has over $74,000,000 in earnings paid to E8 traders. The figure is a bit far, though, with the numbers we have from Payout Junction stating a total of $40,198,692 in payout. Nevertheless, the amount is huge both ways.
  • Large Account Sizes: You can trade up to half a million dollars in the first go at E8 markets. They offer a $500k account with the One and Pro challenges, which you can buy at a 40% discount if it’s your first challenge.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • You can start with a $500k account rightaway
  • Daily profit withdrawals with E2 Pro
  • Allows news and EA trading
Cons
  • Best day rules apply on payout on demand
  • Payout cap policy restricts the amount you can withdraw in each payout
