Silver markets rallied significantly to kick off the week, reaching towards the $14.45 level before pulling back a bit. This was predicated upon the Euro surging, knocking the value of the US dollar down. However, even as the US dollar rolled over a bit Silver flexed its muscles. There is a previous trend line that we are currently testing, that seems to be trying to show signs of resistance.

In case the opening paragraph didn’t give you a hint of what I’m going to say, silver is an absolute mess right now. This is because there are a lot of issues around the world as far as trading is concerned, and the US dollar has been very highly volatile due to this. I think that the market will probably continue to show significant resistance above at the $14.50 level, so if you are looking to short silver based upon the longer-term charts, you probably need to see that area tested to be a bit more comfortable. However, if we turn around and break down below the $14.30 level, we could drop another $0.10 rather quickly.

Silver something I like long term, but quite frankly the silver futures market is a bit too volatile for my taste. As they are worth $25 the tick, it obviously needs a certain size account to be bothered with. You can play mini silver futures, but those aren’t as liquid, and you can run into other issues there. If you have the ability to play the CFD market, then fading rallies will probably continue to work. However, longer-term outlook for silver is bullish, once we get past the lot of the various crises that we find ourselves in at the moment.
