Key Points:

  • SUI’s on-chain data shows signs of undervaluation.
  • Sui could benefit in the mid-term from the launch of the first SUI Treasury.
  • The key support to watch at this point is $3.5 as a strong bounce could set off a move toward $5.
sui price news

Sui (SUI) has gone down by 2.5% in the past 24 hours and currently sits at $3.62 but trading volumes have more than doubled despite this mild retreat.

This may indicate that both buyers and sellers have encountered some common ground as the native asset of the Sui blockchain continues to consolidate.

At $1.5 billion, trading volumes have reached a high point from a historical standpoint. Nevertheless, they have still not hit any meaningful records like the $3.2 billion that exchanges hands on July 18.

Launch of SUI Treasury Could Attract Institutional Flows

The recent launch of the first SUI treasury may have marked a pivotal moment for the token as institutional adoption continues to accelerate.

Mill City Ventures raised $450 million to launch a publicly traded vehicle under its ticker symbol MCVT through which market participants will be able to get direct exposure to SUI via the regulated markets.

These moves may have paved the way for the upcoming launch of a Sui ETF. Only Canary Capital has submitted the paperwork required to list such a vehicle.

Hence, although not the traditional alternative, both institutional and retail investors could be drawn to invest in SUI via this treasury initiative, especially if the Treasury and Labor Department approve the inclusion of cryptocurrencies in 401(k) accounts, as President Donald Trump intends.

SUI Seems Undervalued Compared to Other Networks

In our latest Sui price prediction, we emphasized that the Sui ecosystem has grown at a remarkably fast rate, expanding by 843% in the past 19 months in USD terms.

The market has not fully acknowledged or ‘priced in’ this tremendous advancement as the SUI token booked gains of around 348% only during that same period.

Although this may sound like a lot, we can compare Ethereum’s and Solana’s Market-Value-to-TVL ratios to determine if Sui could be fundamentally undervalued.

Using data from DeFi Llama, we can see that Ethereum’s MV/TVL ratio currently sits at 5.7x while that of Solana stands at 9.3x.

Meanwhile, Sui exhibits a 6.4x ratio, which places it in the middle of the two but fairly closer to ETH despite the fact that the latter has reached a more mature stage with a market cap of $500 billion and the largest DeFi ecosystem in the market.

At first glance, we could interpret this as a sign that Sui could be undervalued compared to Solana. However, the former has not yet capitalized on any of the top trends of the crypto market – e.g. DeFi, meme coins, AI, etc.

Sui has been increasingly betting on becoming the preferred blockchain to launch Bitcoin-focused DeFi apps. This is still a work in progress.

However, if they manage to get hardcore BTC holders on board by offering them attractive rewards to safely stake and lend their assets via the Sui ecosystem, this could trigger the rapid expansion of this project’s TVL and the market could revisit these valuation ratios.

From a technical standpoint, SUI is still in consolidation mode and the $3.5 level is the key support to watch if this pullback continues.

Meanwhile, a break below this area could set off a much deeper correction toward the $3 level if SUI’s trend line support holds. For now, this recent dip continues to be a good chance to scoop up some tokens at a much lower price compared to a week ago.
