Belgium’s annual inflation rate gradually declined to 2.01% in May 2025 from 2.55% in the previous month, marking its lowest level since January 2024. Inflation eased for housing and utilities (4.0% vs 5.9%), food and non-alcoholic beverages (2.4% vs 2.8%), restaurants and hotels (3.7% vs 4.3%), and miscellaneous goods and services (3.1% vs 3.5%). Meanwhile, prices continued to fall for clothing and footwear (-2.8% vs -2.3%) and transport (-0.8% vs -0.7%). Conversely, prices rose further for furnishings, household equipment, and maintenance (4.2% vs 3.8%) and rebounded for communication (0.9% vs -1.1%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices decreased by 0.16% in May, following a 0.83% decline in April.
