The unemployment rate in Hungary ticked down to 4.4% in February-April 2025, from 4.5% in the corresponding period a year ago. The number of unemployed individuals fell by 5.7 thousand from a year earlier to 216.6 thousand. Of this total, 118.5 thousand were men and 98.1 thousand were women. The jobless rate for both genders remained largely unchanged from the same period last year, standing at 4.6% for men and 4.3% for women. The average time spent looking for a job was 13.1 months, with 44.1% of all unemployed individuals had been looking for a job for less than 3 months, while 35% had not found a job for at least a year. Meanwhile, the number of employed persons declined by 31.7 thousand to 4.673 million. Employment among men dropped by 14.4 thousand to 2.482 million, while employment among women fell by 17.3 thousand to 2.191 million.
