The unemployment rate in Hungary rose to 4.5% in the April–June 2025 period, up from 4.3% in the same period last year. This marked the highest jobless rate since the September–November period, as the number of unemployed individuals increased by 4.7 thousand from a year earlier to 218.6 thousand. Of this total, 119.9 thousand were men and 98.7 thousand were women. The unemployment rate was 4.6% for men and 4.3% for women. The average duration of the job search was 12.2 months. Among the unemployed, 41.3% had been seeking work for less than 3 months, while 31.8% had been unemployed for at least a year. Meanwhile, the number of employed persons declined by 49.1 thousand to 4.661 million. Employment among men declined by 29.4 thousand to 2.472 million, while employment among women decreased by 19.7 thousand to 2.189 million.
