In Kosovo, the most important category in the consumer price index is Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages (39.2 percent of total weight). Transport accounts for 13.1 percent; Furniture, Household Goods and Maintenance for 8.7 percent; Housing and Utilities for 7.9 percent; Alcoholic beverages and Tobacco for 5.2 percent and Miscellaneous Goods and Services for 4.9 percent. Recreation and Culture; Clothing and Footwear; Communication; Restaurants and Hotels; Health and Education account for the remaining 21 percent of total weight.

Latest Updates

The annual inflation rate in Kosovo accelerated to 2.9% in March of 2025 from 1.7% in the previous month, the highest since November of 2023. This is mainly explained by an increase in the prices of food goods (6.6% vs. 4.4% in February). Prices also accelerated for hotels and services (5.6% vs. 3.1%), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (4.1% vs 3.4%) and furnishing, household equipment and routine maintenance of the house (2.7% vs 2.3%). In turn, deflation slowed for utilities (-0.9% vs -2.9%), transport (-2.1% vs -2.9%), and communication (-2.0% vs -1.8%). Compared to the previous month, the CPI went up 0.8%, above a 0.4% rise in February.
