Latest Updates
The annual inflation rate in Moldova eased to 7.8% in April 2025 from 8.8% in the previous month, marking the lowest level since December 2024. The slowdown was mainly driven by a sharp deceleration in services inflation, which fell to 13.8% from 17.1%, particularly due to lower prices for piped natural gas. Price growth for non-food products also slowed to 2% from 3%, driven by lower fuel costs. In contrast, food inflation rose to 9% from 9.4%, driven by higher prices for fruits and vegetables. On a monthly basis, consumer prices advanced by 0.9% in April, following a 0.6% gain in the preceding period.
