Norway’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate climbed to 5.4% in June 2025 from 4.6% in the previous month. This marked the highest reading since May 2021, as the number of unemployed persons increased by 27 thousand from a month earlier to 168 thousand. Meanwhile, the employment rate rose to an eight-month high of 70% from 69.8% in the previous month, with the number of employed individuals increasing by 13 thousand to 2.919 million. The labor force participation rate went up to 74.1% in June—the highest level since March 2009—from an upwardly revised 73.2% in May. In the meantime, the youth unemployment rate, which measures the number of job-seekers aged 15 to 24, jumped to a five-year high of 15.7%, from 14% in May 2025.
