Norway’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell to 4.5% in July 2025, from an upwardly revised 5.5% in June, which had marked the highest level since May 2021. The number of unemployed persons dropped by 33 thousand from a month earlier to 136 thousand. Meanwhile, the employment rate ticked down to 69.5% from an eight-month high of 70.0% in June, as the number of employed individuals fell by 19 thousand to 2.898 million. The labor force participation rate dropped to 72.7% in July, from an over sixteen-year high of 74.0% in the previous month. Moreover, the youth unemployment rate, which measures the number of job-seekers aged 15 to 24, declined to 13.7%, down from a record high of 15.9% in June.
