The number of people registering as jobless in Spain decreased by 67,420 to 2.513 million in April 2025, the lowest figure since July 2008, contrary to market forecasts of a 6,500 increase. Compared to the prior month, registered unemployment declined across all economic sectors, with the largest reductions observed in Services (-3,817; -2%), Construction (-3,323; -3.9%), and Industry (-2,920; -1.5%). Additionally, unemployment among individuals with no previous work experience fell significantly, by 7,700 (-3.2%). The number of unemployed young people under 25 dropped by 20,095 in April, reflecting a 10.2% decrease from the prior month. This is the largest decline for April since 2001, occurring at a rate five times faster than the reduction among other age groups..Unemployment fell across all autonomous communities, led by Andalusia, Catalonia, and the Valencian Community. Year-on-year, there were 153,782 fewer unemployed people, 5.77% less than in April 2024.
