Uruguay’s annual inflation rate eased to 4.53% in July 2025, down from 4.59% in June.The slowdown was driven by weaker price increases in several categories, including housing and utilities (3.49% vs 4.22%), transport (2.14% vs 2.91%), recreation and culture (3.82% vs 4.59%), furniture and home articles (2.14% vs 2.91%), information and communication (5.1% vs 5.39%), education (7.39% vs 7.67%), and insurance and financial services (5.57% vs 7.04%). Clothing and footwear continued to register deflation (-0.81%), though at a slower pace than in June (-0.99%). In contrast, prices rose faster for food and non-alcoholic beverages (5.1% vs 4.18%), healthcare (6.55% vs 6.43%), restaurants and lodging (7.01% vs 6.97%), and personal care, social protection, and miscellaneous goods (4.63% vs 4.11%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased by 0.05%, slightly rebounding from the 0.09% deflation recorded in June.
