President Trump is in South Korea today. Japanese equities have put in huge gains again this morning. ECB President Draghi and Fed Chairwoman Yellen will be speaking today. Forex has been relatively quiet, but Crude Oil has put in large gains.
Wall Street achieved slight gains on Monday. Tax reform political wrangling in Washington continues, and it is uncertain what the final package will look like when it is voted on by Congress. Federal Reserve Chairwoman Yellen will be speaking later today, and before that the Jolts Jobs Openings statistics will be issued. The U.S Dollar has remained steady in forex.
Crude Oil has been one of the biggest movers on the global markets the past twenty-four hours as bulls have continued to stampede into the commodity after the recent development in the Middle East. U.S Crude Oil is above 57.00 U.S Dollars a barrel. Speculative optimism appears to be building in the commodity and it may have more room to run.
Asian investors have surged once again into the Nikkei Index this morning and the Hang Seng composite of Hong Kong has also been taken higher. President Trump is in South Korea today, and traders will monitor the U.S leader’s rhetoric carefully. Average Cash Earnings data from Japan showed an improvement today. And China is scheduled to release Trade Balance numbers tomorrow.
European equities saw slight losses on Monday, but the Footsie edged incrementally higher. The Pound remains under the 1.32 level against the U.S Dollar as plenty of political clouds remain regarding the future of the Brexit. The U.K will see the Halifax Home Price Index today. In Europe, President Draghi of the European Central Bank will be speaking this morning. The Euro remains in a weak consolidated position.
