Janet Yellen’s comments regarding inflation will spark the broad markets today. The Empire State Manufacturing Index will be released today, tomorrow Bank of England Governor Mark Carney will be speaking.

Yellen Remarks Will Spark Investors, Wall Street Set for Positive Opening

The Empire State Manufacturing Index will be released today, but it is Janet Yellen’s address delivered yesterday in Washington that will have investors talking. The Fed Chairwoman acknowledged inflation remains too low in the States but underscored her belief this will change. Wall Street will start the day near record highs and is expected to open with gains per early calls from the Futures Markets for the major Indexes.

Hang Seng Among Winners, Inflation Rises in China for Producers

Asian investors turned in another round of positive movement for most major equity Indexes today. The Nikkei, Topix and Hang Seng all saw buying. The Hang Seng has gained more than 3% the past month. China released a solid Producer Price Index reading, which indicates its economy may do better than expected. Later this week growth numbers and Industrial Production figures will come from China.

German Data Produces Surprise, Catalonia and Bank of England in Focus

Inflation data from Germany this morning proved noteworthy with a better outcome from the Wholesale Price Index. Trade Balance numbers have also been published for the European Union. However, investors are keeping their eyes on Spain as the Catalonia crisis unfolds today, and they are anticipating tomorrow’s question and answers from Bank of England Governor Mark Carney when he speaks to the British Treasury. The Pound has been stronger today and is above 1.33 against the U.S Dollar.

Gold’s Resistance Being Tested, Eyeing Higher Values

Gold has risen in early trading this morning as risk adverse speculation has built on geo-political tension. The precious metal is above 1300.00 U.S Dollars an ounce and speculators may be eyeing higher resistance levels to be tested if Gold’s momentum continues to be sustained.

New York Fed’s Manufacturing Data, Business Reading from Canada

Traders will be interested in the results from the Empire State Manufacturing Index which will be published at 12:30 GMT in the States.
