Forex Trading Software Review 2015: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

Retail forex software development is always on a roll. This is an industry that probably gets the most rapid growth nowadays. After a long domination of MetaQuotes (MQ) in the retail forex trading industry, many alternatives have appeared. In this article we will highlight the most expected forex trading platforms to come out in 2015 and also uncover information on the prominent a widely used platforms.

The Good

In 2014 there haven’t been many new trading platforms coming out, yet some recent trading platforms got more usage. We are of course talking about cTrader and XStation. These platforms have been adopted by a few brokers in 2014 and we expect these great platforms to get even more features and updates during 2015. Currently the pricing on these platforms is superior and it can be a severe competition for MetaTrader 4. In addition to this, a social platforms for traders – TradingView, is expected to deliver a full scale trading platform in 2015. Will it be good and stable? Let’s stay and see!

The Bad

Tradable had been an expected platform by some brokers, yet now in 2015 we do not see this platform to be widely used. There is a limited amount of companies offering this platform, and many of them are not the best forex brokers. The platform has neither proved itself to be stable or efficient. There also exist a number of fx platforms that haven’t received any major update in 2014 and they are not expected to become much better this year too. Mostly this platforms are the proprietary development of the broker.

The Ugly

The ugly groups is dominated by two brothers – MT4 and MT5. Even though the platforms from MetaQuotes still remain the most widely used by both brokers and traders, the platform hasn’t received any major update in 2014 and it is hard to believe MQ will release anything serious this year. The popularity of MT4 is declining and MT5 was never accepted by the trading community. As it doesn’t come in Web or Mac version, some software companies appeared that allow your clients to trade on Mac and at the browser. Such add-ons are of course inferior to a desktop version. Some of the brokers are trying to make their software stand out from the other MT4 brokers and add FX Blue Labs add-ons, which make the MT4 much more advanced.

Conclusion

Trading software development industry should not experience some important events this year, as many brokers are out of money due to Black Swan event on Thursday 15ht of January. Still, there is some great staff to be expected from cTrader, xStation and TradingView.
