If you’re looking for the best exchange to buy, trade, or stake Solana, you’re in the right place. Whether you’re a Solana hodler or looking to degen trade some memecoins, I’ll help you find the best exchange for your use case.
I’ve spent countless hours over the last 2 years testing exchanges for FXEmpire. Depositing my own money, spending my time trading, and testing key features on every major exchange to find the ones you should trust, and those you should avoid. So if I’m making a recommendation, you can be sure it’s based on my own personal experience, not just reading features off a platform’s website.
Since everyone has different needs, I’ve created several categories, where almost everyone will fall into one below. I’ve then chosen my favorite exchange for each category, so you can find the exchange that suits you best.

300 million users worldwide make Binance the most popular exchange in the world, and the ideal exchange to buy or trade Solana. Whether you want to trade spot, margin, futures, or options, Binance has you covered, whilst offering low fees and robust security. I’ve been using Binance for over 7 years, and it has never let me down.
If you want to buy Solana quickly and easily using PayPal, then Paybis is perfect for you. It supports PayPal transactions in USD, EUR, and GBP, making it accessible for users worldwide, with an intuitive interface and fully transparent fees. During my testing in late 2025, I found it was reliable, easy to use, and delivered instant fiat-to-crypto transactions.
Traders of all experience levels will find Crypto.com ideal for spot trading, with separate platforms that cater to everyone’s needs individually. It also offers industry-leading regulatory compliance, making it suitable for traders in major regions like the US, UK, and Europe. My early 2026 test of Crypto.com proved it to be one of the leading exchanges, particularly for spot traders, with near-perfect scores across the board.
Coinbase is one of the most recognisable names in crypto, being the only exchange to be listed on the NASDAQ. It allows users in the US to quickly and easily buy and store Solana on a platform that is fully licensed and backed by comprehensive insurance on USD deposits.
High leverage and industry-low trading fees have made MEXC one of the most popular exchanges for trading futures. Its advanced trading platform, in compliance with TradingView integration, conditional orders, API support, and AI-powered analysis, makes it perfect for professional traders.
As the industry leader when it comes to derivatives, Bybit is perfect for options traders of all experience levels. While competitors may cater to experienced traders, Bybit’s Easy Options mode makes trading options accessible to everyone. They offer deep liquidity and options trading fees that start at just 0.2%. Bybit has been my derivative trading platform of choice for over 6 years, thanks to its spreads that are as low as 0.01%, advanced conditional orders, and AI-powered tools.
Safety and security are crucial when it comes to choosing an exchange to stake Solana. Kraken is the industry-leader when it comes to security. It’s a no-brainer if you’re looking for a secure and regulated exchange with a proven track record of keeping user assets safe. When I tested it in mid-2024, I found it to be one of the safest and easiest to use exchanges in the industry, making it perfect for staking SOL.
Solana is the native token of the Solana blockchain network, which is similar to the Ethereum network in that it supports smart contracts and apps, but with a much higher TPS (transactions per second) and lower gas fees.
The Solana network is popular for DeFi, memecoin trading, and NFTs, all of which require transaction fees paid in SOL tokens. SOL is also used to reward validators who secure the network, validate transactions, and create new blocks.
Buying Solana typically means purchasing it to hold long term, whereas trading Solana involves buying and selling it frequently to profit from short-mid term price movements. You can buy Solana using a Quick Buy feature with a bank card or bank transfer. Trading Solana requires you to already hold crypto, typically USDT or USDC, which you can trade back and forth for SOL.
The safest way to buy Solana is through an established crypto exchange, like the ones mentioned on this page. I strongly recommend only using exchanges that offer security measures like 2FA, biometric passkeys, cold storage, and those licensed in major regions like the US, UK, or EU.
Costs when buying Solana will depend on which exchange you use, the fiat currency used, the payment method used, and the liquidity of the exchange. Typically, making fiat deposits via bank transfer works out cheaper than using Quick Buy and a bank card, though this can vary by exchange.
Trading Solana, assuming you already own some crypto to use in the trade, will incur maker/taker fees for swapping your crypto for Solana. If you are leverage trading, you will also have to pay interest fees or funding fees, depending on whether you are using margin or futures.
As with most cryptos, the biggest risk when buying Solana is price volatility and the broader crypto market cycle. In recent years, Solana has been more volatile compared to Bitcoin and Ethereum, with events like the FTX crash in 2022 causing the price of Solana to drop below $8.
However, many find this volatility to also be one of Solana’s strengths, making it perfect for active trading. It could also represent a more lucrative upside potential compared to the likes of Bitcoin or Ethereum, yet nothing I state in this article is intended to be taken as financial advice.
If you are looking for the most cost-effective way to buy Solana, depositing via bank transfer and trading that for Solana usually works out much cheaper than using a bank card to buy SOL via Quick Buy. Many leading exchanges offer free fiat deposits, whilst fees for bank card payments can be as high as 5%.
Solana works equally well for both, but for different reasons. Long-term SOL investors back the network’s potential for future growth, increased adoption, and ecosystem expansion. However, SOL is equally suitable for trading, given its high liquidity and volatility, which makes it one of the most popular tokens to trade on major exchanges. Most experienced traders combine investing and trading, holding a core SOL position, whilst trading smaller positions and going long/short depending on the market.
In this article, I have tried to focus on exchanges that hold regulatory licenses in major jurisdictions like the United States, the United Kingdom, and the European Union. However, if you live outside these regions, it’s important to check with your local financial regulator if an exchange you are looking to join is licensed and registered.
One of the most common mistakes when buying Solana is using a Quick Buy feature on an exchange without checking the spreads. This can result in much higher prices than simply depositing fiat currency and trading the spot markets. Another common mistake is buying Solana and withdrawing it on the wrong network or sending it to a wallet that doesn’t support Solana. I’m guilty of the last one, after I lost $100 worth of Solana by sending it to my ETH address instead of my SOL address.
