Natural gas markets have plunged during the trading session on Friday as we have approached the 200-Day EMA. At this point, it looks as if the market is ready to continue going lower given enough time.

Natural Gas Technical Analysis

Natural gas markets have fallen during the trading session on Friday to reach down to the 200-Day EMA. Ultimately, this is a market that I think will continue to see a lot of noisy behavior, but we will probably see a situation where a lot of volatility will be the mainstay. If we do break down below the 200-Day EMA, then it could kick off a massive selloff. Quite frankly, we have just chopped through the bottom of a neckline for the head and shoulders, and therefore it suggests that we have further to go. In fact, the “measured move” is down to about $6.00. I do think that we could get down there, because quite frankly demand is going to be an issue.

The Americans are not bailing out the Europeans, they can’t do so, because the infrastructure is not there. I think that game is over, at least for the time being. Some European countries claim that they have enough gas to get through the winter, but that remains to be seen. If the cold gets out of hand over the course of the winter, we could see Europe fall apart, therefore could see another spike in gas. This is going to be a very difficult winter regardless, but this is a US contract, something that a lot of people tend to forget. Yes, the United States exports LNG, but not nearly enough to solve the situation in the EU, so that argument for demand was far too overdone. Ultimately, I’m fading rallies at this point is I think we have further to go.
