In China, Urban Surveyed Unemployment Rate is calculated by a sample survey, which refers to the ratio of urban unemployed population to the sum of the employed population and the unemployed population.

China's surveyed urban unemployment rate edged up to 5.6% in February from 5.5% in the previous three months, pointing to the highest level since last November. The unemployment rate of the population aged 16-24 and 25-59 were 18.1% and 4.8%, respectively. Meanwhile, the jobless rate in 31 large cities and towns was 5.7%. The average weekly working hours of employees in enterprises across the country was 47.9 hours. For 2023, the government has targeted the jobless rate to stay around 5.5%, with the creation of around 12 million new urban jobs. China has set a GDP growth target of around 5% for 2023.
