In Ivory Coast, the inflation rate measures a broad rise or fall in prices that consumers pay for a standard basket of goods. The most important categories are: Food and non-alcoholic beverages (25 percent of the total weight); Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (13 percent); Restaurants and Hotels (13 percent); Transport (12 percent); and Clothing and Footwear (10 percent). Communication account for 7 percent and Miscellaneous Goods and Services for 5 percent. The index also includes: Health (4 percent) and Furnishings, household equipment and routine maintenance of the house (4 percent). Education, Recreation and Culture and Alcoholic beverages and tobacco account for the remaining 7 percent.

The annual inflation rate in Ivory Coast slowed to 2.5% in November 2024, down from 2.6% in October. It marked the lowest inflation rate since January 2021, with food prices rising the least since October 2019 (1.8% vs 2.2% in October), due to lower prices of fresh vegetables; oil and fats; and milk, cheese, and eggs. Inflation also moderated for furnishing (3.0% vs 3.4%). Meanwhile, housing (6.6% vs 6.5%) and transport prices (1.5% vs 1.4%) continued to rise. On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose by 0.1% in November, the first monthly increase in three months, after a 0.4% drop in October.
