Latest Updates
Consumer prices in El Salvador declined by 0.17% year-over-year in June 2025, following a 0.21% drop in May and marking a second consecutive month of deflation. The continued decrease was driven largely by a sustained drop in food and alcoholic beverage prices, which fell for the ninth straight month (-1.44% vs -0.69% in May). Other notable declines came from transport (-3.60%), clothing and footwear (-1.13%), household equipment (-0.97%), and communication (-0.78%). In contrast, inflation picked up in categories such as restaurants and hotels (3.29%), healthcare (2.06%), and housing and utilities (2.34%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose by 0.32% in June, accelerating from May’s 0.11% increase. The data reflect mixed inflationary pressures, with persistent declines in key goods partially offset by steady gains in services.
