Consumer prices in El Salvador rose 0.36% year-over-year in September 2025, following a 0.11% decline, ending a five-month streak of deflation. The increase was led by food and alcoholic beverages, which rebounded 0.53% after eleven months of decline (-1.24% in August). Additional upward pressure came from restaurants and hotels (3.17% vs. 2.86%), healthcare (1.78% vs. 2.07%), and housing and utilities (1.78% vs. 2.21%). Conversely, costs fell for transport (-4.29% vs. -3.78%), clothing and footwear (-0.57% vs. -0.79%), household goods (-0.67% vs. -1.25%), and communication (-0.21% vs. -0.35%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices edged up 0.06% in September, following a 0.36% rise in August.
