Latest Updates
Latvia’s trade deficit narrowed to EUR 268 million in April 2025 from EUR 318 million in the same month last year, as exports rose more than imports. Year-on-year, exports advanced by 8.9% to EUR 1,671.9 million, driven by higher sales of mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation (59.6%), dairy produce, bird’s eggs, natural honey (42.3%), and pharmaceutical products (24.9%). Shipments to the EU (11.2%) and other countries (11%) rose, while exports to CIS (-14.1%) dropped. Meanwhile, imports increased at a softer 4.7% to EUR 1,939.9 million, mainly due to increased purchases of mineral fuels, mineral oils and products of their distillation (40.5%), optical, medical or surgical instruments and apparatus (24%), and pharmaceutical products (14.6%). Imports from both the EU (6.1%) and other countries (9.7%) increased, while arrivals dropped significantly from CIS (-50.4%).
