The annual inflation rate in Morocco eased to 0.7% in April from 1.6% in March, marking the lowest level since last December. The slowdown was mainly driven by a sharp deceleration in food and non-alcoholic beverage inflation (0.5% vs 2.3%), along with steeper deflation in transport (-4.0% vs -2.4%) and recreation and culture (-0.9% vs -0.5%). In contrast, prices accelerated in alcoholic beverages and tobacco (3.6% vs 2.9%) and in restaurants and hotels (4.4% vs 3.9%), while housing and utilities inflation remained steady at 3.7%. On a monthly basis, consumer prices fell by 0.3% in April, matching the decline recorded in March.
