Romania’s trade deficit narrowed to EUR 2.64 billion in July 2025, from EUR 2.94 billion in the same month of the previous year. Exports grew by 7% year-on-year to EUR 8.9 billion, supported by a 10.2% increase in sales to EU countries, despite a 0.5% decline in exports to non-EU countries. Meanwhile, imports rose at a slower pace of 2.4%, reaching EUR 11.5 billion, as purchases from EU countries increased by 4.2%, while those from non-EU countries fell by 1.7%. For the first seven months of the year, the trade deficit widened to EUR 19.31 billion, reflecting an increase of EUR 1.3 billion compared to the same period last year, as exports rose by 3.7% and imports grew by 4.9%.
