In Senegal, the three main components of the consumer price index are: Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages (49.6 percent of total weight); Housing and Utilities (12 percent) and Clothing and Footwear (7.3 percent). Others include: Transport (5.6 percent); Household Contents, Equipment and Maintenance (5 percent); Miscellaneous Goods and Services (3.8 percent) and Restaurants and Hotels (3.8 percent). Recreation and Culture, Health, Communication, Education and Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco account for the remaining 12.7 percent of total weight.

Senegal’s annual inflation rate accelerated to 2.9% in November 2025, up from October’s three-month low of 1.9%. It was the highest inflation rate since March 2024, mainly reflecting faster rises in food prices, which increased 5.0%, up from 3.2% in October and marking the fastest growth since March 2024. Inflation also accelerated for restaurants (3.0% vs 2.7%), furnishings (3.3% vs 3.2%), and alcoholic beverages and tobacco (15.9% vs 11.4%). Meanwhile, inflation eased for housing and utilities (1.0% vs 1.3%) and healthcare (2.3% vs 2.4%), while remaining steady for clothing and footwear (at 0.6%) and transport (at 2.9%). Conversely, prices in the information and communication sector continued to decline (-3.6% vs -1.6%). Excluding energy and fresh products, the core index increased 4.7% yoy, accelerating slightly from a 4.6% rise in October.
On a monthly basis, consumer prices edged down 0.1% in November, following a 0.2% drop in October.
