The number of employed people in the United Kingdom rose by 232 thousand in the three months to July 2025, following an upwardly revised 239 thousand increase in the previous period. The latest figure came above forecasts of a 220 thousand gain, largely supported by full-time positions. Compared to a year earlier, employment increased by 654 thousand, with growth recorded among both employees and the self-employed across full-time and part-time roles. Meanwhile, the employment rate for those aged 16 to 64 edged up by 0.1 percentage points to 75.2%. The number of people holding second jobs also grew, reaching 1.301 million, equivalent to 3.8% of total employment.
