Business Inventories in the United States measure the monthly percentage changes in inventories from manufacturers, retailers, and wholesalers. Inventories are a key component of gross domestic product.

US business inventories were flat month-over-month in April 2025, after a 0.1% increase in the prior month, in line with the market consensus. Stocks held by retailers remained unchanged in April after falling 0.3% in March, while those held by manufacturers declined 0.1%, following a similar rise a month earlier. Meanwhile, inventories at merchant wholesalers rose by 0.2%, after a 0.3% increase in the previous month. On an annual basis, business inventories rose by 2.2%.
