US crude oil inventories fell by 1.274 million barrels in the week ended December 12, 2025, following a 1.812 million barrel decline in the previous week and compared to market expectations for a 1.1 million barrel draw. At the Cushing, Oklahoma delivery hub, crude stocks decreased by 742 thousand barrels, the most in about two months, after a 308 thousand barrels rise in the previous period. Meanwhile, gasoline inventories rose sharply by 4.808 million barrels, following a 6.397 million barrels jump in the previous week, and much higher than forecasts of a 2.1 million-barrel build. Distillate stockpiles, which include diesel and heating oil, rose by 1.712 million barrels, compared with expectations for a 1.2 million-barrel increase.
