ANKARA (Reuters) – Turkey’s presidential and parliamentary elections will be held on May 14, President Tayyip Erdogan said on Monday, a month earlier than scheduled.

“After our comprehensive evaluations, we deem May 14 as the most suitable date for the elections. If our parliament takes such a decision, we will be glad. If not, I will use my authority as the president for it,” Erdogan said in his speech after cabinet meeting.
