Liverpool Football Club Goes Digital with NFT Collection

Today, Liverpool Football Club took to Twitter, announcing the launch of @LFCHeroes Club,

“An online fan community, centered around digital collectibles and created for the LFC faithful.”

LFC went on to tweet,

“10% of all sales (and resales) and 50% of @LFCHeroesClub auction proceeds will benefit local and global communities via @LFCFoundation, while our Foundation Heroes will be recognized with their very own NFTs.”

Sotheby’s provided more details of the LFC Heroes Club NFT sale on Sotheby’s Metaverse. According to the Sotheby’s page,

“Each unique digital asset will give holders access to an LFC community forum, unique experiences, virtual hang-outs, competitions, guest appearances, updates from the LFC Foundation, and LFC retail discounts.”

The announcement goes on to say,

“LFC Heroes Club digital collectibles are available as part of the ‘Legendary’ 1/1 auctions and the ‘Hero’ limited edition sale. The sale takes place March 30 – April 1.

The unique 1/1 NFTs show each squad member’s most powerful and legendary state.

Lot 20: Mohamed Salah will be among the most sought-after collectibles on auction day.

Fans can purchase the NFTs by wire transfer or a cryptocurrency wallet from a Sotheby’s approved exchange. Sotheby’s Metaverse will accept crypto payments in Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and USD Coin (USDC).

Liverpool FC Follows Other Footballing Giants into the Digital Space

Football clubs worldwide have eyed the NFT space to nurture fan engagement.

Big soccer clubs going NFT include Manchester City, FC Barcelona, and FC Paris Saint Germain, with more likely to follow.
