Wintershall Dea: we will be affected by sanctions on Russia

FRANKFURT (Reuters) – Wintershall Dea, the German oil and gas firm co-owned by BASF and Russian billionaire Mikhail Fridman’s investor group LetterOne, on Monday said it would be affected by sanctions on Russia, but did not say how.

“We are constantly analysing the impact of the sanctions imposed. At the moment, it is not yet possible to foresee how directly the current or expected future sanctions will affect us,” the company said in e-mailed comments.

“That they will affect us is absolutely clear.”

Wintershall Dea has been doing business in Russia for more than three decades and is a shareholder in Achimgaz, its Russian gas joint venture with Gazprom.

“Our board is already analysing the situation thoroughly, including legal implications.”
