Looking to practice crypto trading without the risk? After testing 50+ platforms this year, we’ve identified the five best crypto exchanges with demo accounts, plus expert insights to help you get started. We compared demo modes on desktop and mobile in real market conditions.

We ranked platforms on deposit-free demo access, how complete and live the demo toolset is, and how closely it matches the real platform. We also scored interface realism, virtual fund limits and reset flexibility, simulation accuracy for latency and slippage, mobile parity, and the quality of education and support that helps users transition to live trading.

List Of Top Crypto Demo Trading Platforms

How Did FXEmpire Choose the Best Crypto Demo Accounts To Practice Trading?

My evaluation of crypto exchanges is based on the following key criteria:

  • Features in Demo Accounts: If you’re demo trading, you want it to be as close to live trading as possible. That’s why I looked for exchanges that offer real-time data, live order books, and full support for conditional orders while demo trading. This helps you practice and get used to the same tools you’ll use when live trading.
  • User Interface: When you’re just starting out, it makes things so much easier to have a user-friendly interface. That’s why I preferred exchanges with intuitive platforms that make it accessible for beginners and help you build confidence and get familiar with the platform.
  • Virtual Funds and Limits: Not all demo trading works the same, so I looked at demo balances and usage limits. I favored exchanges that give you unlimited virtual funds and unrestricted access to let you practice without any restrictions.
  • Educational Resources and Support: Having educational resources to refer to while practicing makes it much easier to get the hang of trading. I looked for platforms with in-depth tutorials, guides, and helpful customer support. Guides and tutorials will teach you the basics, while helpful customer support agents can support you if you run into any issues while trading.
  • Simulation Accuracy: The point of demo trading is to let you practice trading in a realistic environment, so I looked at how closely each exchange mirrored real market behavior. I looked at price accuracy, latency, and volatility to make sure you get realistic conditions to practice and know what to expect once you move on to live trading.
  • Mobile App Support: Having a good mobile app can make trading on the go much easier. That’s why I tested each app’s demo mode to see how well it works alongside the desktop demo trading.

If you’re looking for an exchange that excels in all areas, Bybit is just the exchange for you. It’s a trading-focused exchange, which means it understands what traders look for and what features they need. They have then created a demo trading platform that works exactly like its live trading platform, with the same tools, features, and real-time price data.

  • Demo trading for spot, futures, and options makes Bybit perfect for everyone. Whether you’re a beginner learning to spot trade or a professional testing new options strategies, Bybit has you covered. I found demo trading on Bybit offers an identical experience to live trading on the exchange.
  • You can practice on desktop or mobile with a demo interface that is identical to Bybit’s live trading environment. This lets you open demo positions at home and monitor them while you’re on the go, exactly like you would with live positions. I feel this also helps make the transition from demo to live trading smoother, as you don’t need to learn a new interface.

Binance is the biggest and most popular exchange in the world. It also has one of the best mobile apps in the industry for demo trading. I think it hits that perfect balance between being easy to use while still offering plenty of advanced tools and features. Its simplicity makes it ideal for beginners, while advanced users can still benefit from experimenting with niche coins or advanced order types.

  • Its simple and intuitive demo trading interface makes demo trading easy, even if you’re a complete beginner. Despite being simple, it still looks and feels like trading on the live exchange. I found the mobile app easy to navigate without being oversimplified, making it ideal for all experience levels.
  • You have access to advanced tools to practice with, like Binance’s advanced conditional order types that include Iceberg, TWAP, and OCO. This is ideal if you’re looking to experiment with different trading strategies and conditional orders, as I found it has order types that aren’t found on every exchange.
  • With over 500 markets to trade, you have access to almost every market that’s available on the live exchange. This means you can practice trading both large-cap coins and niche memecoins without risking real money.

If you’re a beginner looking to start spot trading, Bitget is my pick for you. It offers one of the best spot demo trading experiences with a user-friendly interface that’s perfect for beginners. But just because it’s beginner-friendly doesn’t mean it lacks advanced features. Bitget still offers all the tools and features you need to progress as a trader and start trading more advanced strategies over time.

  • The ability to practice spot and margin trading sets Bitget apart from other exchanges that only offer spot and futures. Once you’re comfortable trading spots, you can use the demo platform to practice trading with leverage before risking real money.
  • Its beginner-friendly interface is intuitive and easy to use, which is perfect if you’re new to crypto trading. The order forms are fairly intuitive and closely resemble the order forms available on the actual exchange. There is also plenty of educational content, articles, and guides to help you learn the ropes.
  • Bitget’s live data and TradingView Charts give you a realistic trading experience, without having to risk any money. I found the price charts behaved just like the live charts, with low latency, which means orders execute and fill exactly like they do when live trading. This also helps make the transition from demo to live trading easier, as you’re already familiar with how charts behave.
Pros
  • Practice spot, margin & futures trading
  • Uses real-time market data
  • Unlimited demo funds for testing strategies

MEXC is a favorite among derivative traders for its advanced futures trading and industry-low fees. So it’s no surprise that its futures demo trading experience is just as good as its live trading experience. If you’re looking to progress from spot and margin trading into futures trading, MEXC lets you experiment with up to 500x leverage without risking a penny in real life.

  • MEXC’s full-feature demo platform with real-time market data is identical to its live futures trading platform. I liked the fact that you have access to all the same order types, order forms, and TradingView technical indicators. It really delivers an authentic trading experience that will make it easier to progress to live trading later on.
  • With up to 500x leverage available, you can practice trading high-leverage strategies that aren’t possible on other exchanges. It’s also great if you’re new to leverage trading and just want to feel what getting liquidated with 500x feels like.
  • Demo trading is available on desktop and mobile, which makes it easy to open positions on desktop and keep an eye on them while you’re on the go. It also gives you the flexibility to keep practicing even when you’re away from the desk.
Pros
  • Practice futures trading
  • Practice with up to 500x leverage
  • Uses real-time market data

If you care about your privacy and anonymity but still want to practice trading crypto, BloFin is perfect for you. It’s a no-KYC exchange that offers a seamless trading experience that’s on par with industry leaders, all while maintaining your privacy. It’s a key reason why BloFin has quickly gained popularity within the trading community, putting it ahead of existing no-KYC exchanges that are known to be clunkier to use.

  • Start demo trading without any KYC checks. This is perfect if you’re a privacy-focused user and don’t want to hand over your personal information. You can sign up with just an email address and start practicing. I found the sign-up process to be straightforward and hassle-free.
  • You can practice spot and futures trading with access to a wide range of markets. This also makes it perfect for all experience levels. If you’re new to trading, you can start with spot, or if you’re an intermediate-level trader looking to progress beyond spot, you can practice trading with higher leverage with futures demo trading.
  • BloFin’s demo trading on desktop and mobile makes it easy to practice trading from anywhere. Its desktop platform offers advanced tools and features for technical analysis and conditional orders, while its mobile app lets you effectively monitor open positions while you’re away from the desk.
Pros
  • Practice spot & futures trading
  • Uses real-time market data
  • Unlimited demo funds for testing strategies

How to Choose the Best Crypto App For Demo Trading?

What Is Demo Trading in Crypto?

Demo trading is a feature that lets you practice trading crypto without risking any real money. Instead of using your own funds, you get given a virtual account balance to trade with. This means even if you blow the account, you haven’t lost a penny in real life. The markets you’re trading are still authentic, with real-time price data and market conditions that make it feel like you’re live trading.

Most major exchanges offer some form of demo trading, some call it paper trading. But not all exchanges offer the same features; some only offer futures, while others may offer spot and margin too. I find demo trading useful if you’re new to trading and want to learn the ropes before risking real money.

Why Should You Use Demo Trading Before Going Live?

If you’re new to trading crypto, skipping demo trading is like jumping in the deep end of a pool before learning how to swim. Demo trading lets you learn the basics without the stress of worrying about losing real money.

You can learn how to use the trading tools to your advantage, experiment with conditional orders, and practice trading a range of different coins. It also helps you understand market conditions by letting you experience volatility and price swings firsthand. Even if you’re not new to crypto, you can use demo trading to test new strategies risk-free.

What Are the Limitations of Demo Trading?

While demo trading is a great tool, it’s not perfect. The main downside is that it can’t replicate the real emotions of trading since there is no real money on the line. You’ll find yourself making bold trades that you’d never make if it were your own money on the line. Another downside is that sometimes execution might be unrealistically smooth, with no slippage or partial fills, which are common when live trading. All of these combined can sometimes give you a false sense of confidence, which is why you should always start with small amounts once you progress to live trading.

When Should You Move From Demo Trading to a Real Account?

There’s no universal answer to this question, but I can make a few suggestions on when you should consider making the switch. If you’re consistently profitable on your demo account over a long period of time, not just a few lucky trades, it might be a good time to consider switching to live trading. You should also make sure you feel comfortable and understand all the different trading features on the exchange.

However, it isn’t just down to profitability. You should also have a clear trading plan in mind. How you’re going to manage risk and how much you’re willing to lose are things you should have figured out before you move to live trading. When you do go live, start small. Only risk amounts that you’re comfortable losing, since the jump from demo to real trading can still be a big reality check.
