AUD/USD Fundamental Analysis December 7, 2012, Forecast

Analysis and Recommendation:

The AUD/USD is trading at 1.0465 adding 10pips. The Bureau of Statistics today released unemployment data showing the Aussie unemployment fell to 5.2% when forecast at 5.5% and there was an increase in employment by 13.9K jobs. Q3 GDP data were slightly lower than expected at 0.5% q/q, while the y/y trend came in at a solid 3.1%.  The RBA’s Deputy Governor Lowe has spoken about monetary policy in a ‘normal’ environment, suggesting that relatively low interest rates are likely to be expected amid sluggish global growth and restrained domestic inflation, and as the exchange rate remains elevated. Early this week, the RBA reduced interest rates by 25bps to 3.0%
