The US stock markets went sideways overall during the trading session on Wednesday, as markets have finally calm down after the significant selloff that we had seen during the Tuesday session. This is exactly what we need to see to get the buyers involved again.

Dow Jones 30 daily chart, April 26, 2018

Dow Jones 30

The Dow Jones 30 has gone back and forth in a reasonably tight range during the trading session on Wednesday, with the 24,000 level above is resistance. If we can break above the 24,000 level, I think that the market probably goes towards the 24,300 level. Ultimately, there is a major uptrend line underneath, and I think that the 23,800 level has also shown itself to be somewhat supportive. I think that if we can get some calm in the market, that should bring in enough confidence to have people looking for returns in this market. I don’t have any interest in shorting currently.

NASDAQ 100

The NASDAQ 100 has been very noisy during the trading session on Wednesday, bouncing around underneath the 6500 level. It looks as if the market is trying to break out to the upside, and I think if we clear the 6525 level, the market should continue to go higher, perhaps reaching towards the 6600 level. We have seen the NASDAQ 100 stabilize of it, and it looks likely that he could lead the rest of the stock market higher as tech stocks remain in the crosshairs of any potential terrorist between the United States and China. It looks like things are coming down over there, so we could wring buyers back into this market. Higher yields in the bond market have put a lot of fear into the stock market, but that seems to be coming down a bit as well, and I think that value hunters will eventually get involved.
