Analysis and Recommendations: The EUR/GBP is trading at 0.8152 falling 21pips today as traders sold off the euro to the benefit of the safety of the US
The EUR/GBP is trading at 0.8152 falling 21pips today as traders sold off the euro to the benefit of the safety of the US dollar. The GBP remained flat against most of its trading partners with little eco data or news to move the markets as traders remain focused on the US fiscal negotiations. Given that budget talks have been dragging on for months, that the fiscal measures will have only a gradual impact and that many investors had priced in very little chance of a deal by year end, strategists said a major sell-off in growth-linked currencies and assets on Wednesday was unlikely.
Although traders are shedding risk in favor of the US dollar as markets at this point do not expect any agreements anytime soon. Negotiations will drag into the new year and will now once again focus on the debt ceiling also.
Our fundamental analysis will not be published tomorrow, as we celebrated the New Year’s holiday and global markets are shuttered. I would like to take this time to wish all of my readers and followers the best in the New Year… Here’s to profitable trading.
