Analysis and Recommendations:

The EUR/USD dipped 22 points at the shared currency remains weak at 1.0665. Traders remain mixed after German ZEW data was a bit better but over economic sentiment remained depressed. Mario Draghi is spending the week on the talking circuit explaining the need for additional stimulus at the next ECB meeting. The dollar is again demonstrating strong positive momentum due to expectations of an interest rate hike already by December while the European Central Bank is only expected to expand its quantitative easing measures. The euro-dollar rates is at a six and a half month low while the dollar index tested new peaks last week and was at its highest level since January. The US Consumer Price Index will be published this week and a higher figure will reinforce expectations of a rate high next month with inflation being one of the important considerations in the decision.

Morale among German analysts and investors rose in November, a closely watched survey showed on Tuesday, snapping a seven-month run of falls despite Friday’s attacks in Paris, which the poll partly took account of.

The ZEW think tank surveyed 225 analysts and investors, 40 of whom replied to the poll after Friday night’s suicide bombings and shootings in Paris that killed 129.

Mannheim-based ZEW said its monthly survey showed economic sentiment in Europe’s largest economy rising to 10.4 points in November from 1.9 in October. That was above the consensus forecast for a reading of 6.0 based on a poll conducted before the Paris attacks.
