Gold markets went back and forth during the trading session on Friday, reaching around the $1305 level, an area that of course has caused a lot of attention. I believe that there is plenty of support underneath this level though, so it could be an interesting market to trade.

Gold daily chart, May 28, 2018

Gold markets went back and forth during the trading session of Friday, and it looks likely that we will continue to go much higher, perhaps using the $1300 level as a launching point, not to mention the weekly trend line that has recently held the market. I think that longer-term, we will probably go looking towards the $1325 level, perhaps even the $1350 level. Short-term pullbacks continue to be buying opportunities, as the Gold markets will continue to be driven by geopolitical concerns, and I think it’s only a matter of time before we go much higher. I think if we break down below the $1285 level, the market will probably break down drastically. In the short term, I think that short-term pullbacks will continue to offer value the people can take advantage of, and that I think that we will continue to reach to the upside. I like the idea that we will react to the US dollar as well, although it’s likely that the geopolitical concerns will continue to go back into the equation.

Gold markets have been very choppy and noisy, but when you look at the longer-term charts, we are most certainly an ascending triangle, and likely to continue grinding higher over the longer-term. Because of this, look for short-term pullbacks offer value that you can take advantage of for the longer-term move. Ultimately, I think that the market breaks towards $1400, perhaps based upon serious issues around the world.
