Natural Gas Weekly Technical Analysis

Natural gas markets have been all over the place during the week, but with the weekly chart does not tell you is just how bad Thursday was. Natural gas markets are getting crushed, and quite frankly I think that makes quite a bit of sense considering that the market has been so overdone. Because of this, I think that we are going to continue to see a lot of volatility, but eventually we should go back down to the $4.00 level. After all, the Americans are not going to be sending LNG to the European Union going forward, and of course the Germans are now starting to talk about coal. Quite a change of attitude.

With this being the case, it relieves a lot of the pressure on the natural gas markets, thereby allowing them to go back to historical norms. I will continue to fade rallies going forward, and I do believe that this is a market that will eventually find plenty of opportunities to get short. I don’t want to buy natural gas unless something changes again, but as things stand right now I just don’t see how they do. That nasty candlestick from three weeks prior suggested that there was trouble, and then we had the follow-through on the huge red candlestick, which if you remember, I had suggested never happens in a vacuum.

We have seen the end of a lot of commodity markets and their bull runs, natural gas being one of them. We are seeing this across the commodity markets, and therefore I think it all ties in together.
