Industrial production in Argentina surged 5.2% year-on-year in March 2025, marking the fourth consecutive month of growth after an 18-month contraction streak, though slowing from February’s 5.6% increase. The slowdown was primarily due to a steeper contraction in oil refining, coke, and nuclear fuel (-7.0% vs. -3.1% in February), while output slowed for equipment, devices, and instruments (19.3% vs. 37.2%), food and beverages (5.4% vs. 9.9%), and manufacturing (32.9% vs. 35.6%). However, machinery and equipment (12.8% vs. 11.1%),and wood, paper, publishing, and printing (3.4% vs. 0.9%) saw increased output, while basic metals (16.6% vs. -8.6%) rebounded. On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, industrial production tumbled 4.5%, reversing the 0.5% rise from the prior month.
