Belgium recorded a trade surplus of EUR 1,018.8 million in August 2025, narrowing from EUR 1,429.1 million in the same month of the previous year, as exports dropped more than imports. Year-on-year, exports declined by 29.1% to EUR 36,396.1 million, weighed down by lower outbound shipments to EU countries (-4.7%) and non-EU destinations (-8.9%). Meanwhile, imports fell by 5.2% to EUR 35,383.3 million, with purchases decreasing from EU countries (-5.5%) and non-EU countries (-4.8%). Considering the January to August period, the country posted a trade surplus of EUR 15,244.1 million, down from EUR 15,810.1 million in the same period a year earlier.
