Brazil’s industrial production fell 0.2% in July 2025 from June, following a flat reading in the previous period, and matching market expectations. Thirteen out of twenty-five sectors posted declines. The sharpest drag came from metallurgy (-2.3%), which ended two months of gains. Other notable drops included transportation equipment (-5.3%), printing (-11.3%), beverages (-2.2%), machinery repair and installation (-3.7%), electronics (-2.0%), miscellaneous products (-3.5%), and rubber and plastics (-1.0%). Of the 11 sectors that grew, the main drivers were pharmaceuticals (+7.9%), food products (+1.1%), extractive industries (+0.8%), and chemicals (+1.8%). Year-on-year, industrial output edged up 0.2%.
