Czech Republic is intensively involved in international trade. It engages in the export of numerous manufactured goods that are used in the production of automobiles, furniture, and electrical appliances. Czech Republic imports mainly machinery and transportation equipment, raw materials, fuels and chemicals. European Union is by far its largest trading partner, accounting for about 83% of exports and 65% of imports.

The trade surplus in the Czech Republic expanded to CZK 26 billion in October 2025 from CZK 11 billion in the same month last year, as exports decreased less than imports. Exports fell by 1.7% year-on-year to CZK 422.4 billion, mainly due to lower sales of machinery and transport equipment, which dropped 2.2%. Meanwhile, imports declined by 5.3% to CZK 396.4 billion, driven by an 8.3% decrease in machinery and transport equipment purchases. For the January–October period, the trade balance reached a surplus of CZK 195.6 billion, slightly higher than the CZK 191.5 billion surplus recorded in the same period a year ago, with exports rising 2.9% and imports increasing 3.0%.
