Czech Republic is intensively involved in international trade. It engages in the export of numerous manufactured goods that are used in the production of automobiles, furniture, and electrical appliances. Czech Republic imports mainly machinery and transportation equipment, raw materials, fuels and chemicals. European Union is by far its largest trading partner, accounting for about 83% of exports and 65% of imports.

The Czech Republic’s trade surplus narrowed to CZK 23.2 billion in April 2025 from CZK 30.1 billion in the same month last year. Imports rose 0.6% year-on-year to CZK 385.3 billion, driven by higher purchases of food and live animals (+9.9%), mineral fuels and lubricants (+17.1%), and manufactured articles (+4.5%). Meanwhile, exports fell 1.1% to CZK 408.5 billion, weighed down by lower sales of crude materials (-7.4%), manufactured goods (-3.9%), and chemicals and related products (-2.3%). For the first four months of the year, the trade surplus totaled CZK 106.2 billion, with exports up 4.3% and imports rising 5.1%.
