Kyrgyzstan Interest Rate

The National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic kept its benchmark interest rate at 9.25% during its August 2025 meeting, maintaining its focus on price stability while supporting growth. Inflation stood at 5.0% year-to-date and 9.4% annually, reflecting global food price volatility, seasonal changes in domestic food costs, and adjustments to electricity tariffs. Despite these pressures, the economy expanded strongly, with real GDP rising 11.5% in January–July 2025, driven by industry, construction, and services. Consumer demand was further supported by higher household incomes, remittance inflows, and increased bank lending. The central bank noted stable conditions in the domestic currency market, with monetary policy helping to preserve purchasing power and balance liquidity. Policymakers reaffirmed their commitment to a balanced stance while signaling readiness to act if risks emerge. The next review is scheduled for October 27, 2025.
