The unemployment rate in Macau held steady at 1.9% in the three-month period ending in May 2025, unchanged from the prior period and remaining at its highest level since May 2024. The number of unemployed individuals edged down by 200 to 7,200, while total employment also declined by 200 to 373,000. Employment among residents increased in the construction sector, while the financial sector recorded a decline. Most jobseekers had previously worked in retail trade, construction, or gaming. The labor force shrank by 400 to 380,200. By gender, labor force participation remained higher among men at 70.5%, compared with 63.3% for women.
